I gave Canelo those 4. I didn't think any of the rounds except the first 3 were difficult to score. My final scorecard was 8-4, I could see 9-3 or 7-5 if we are being generous to Canelo. He wasn't in the fight after round 4 and never looked like winning whilst trying to survive.
I didn't bet, I've just got back off holiday and don't really have the cash to throw around. It wasn't a close fight I'm sorry to say.
well if you think 7-5 is possible then 6-6 is not far away.... i have Canelo winning quite easily...GGG was chasing shadows, punching air...
My card Canelo- GGG 10-9 10-9 9-10 9-10 9-10 10-9 9-10 9-10 9-10 9-10 10-9 9-10 112-116 GGG was the clear winner, the active aggressor throughout and landed more scoring shots.
I think it depends on what you're looking for in the fight. GGG was the aggressor, moving forward, stalking with that ramrod jab and Canelo was doing what he does, leaning on the ropes, slipping, sliding, throwing some really good shots. I honestly think neither fighter had it all their way or was dominant. What I mean in that is that at the start of the 12th I didn't feel like someone definitely needed to knock the other down to prevent an inevitable points defeat. I was leaning towards Canelo to win so I accept I could have had a bit of bias in looking more at Canelo's successes than GGG's. Either way, what a fight, I loved it.
Agreed. I had Canelo winning 8 - 4. Thought he was superb tonight and made GGG look a fool half the time.
I felt that Canelo was slicker and had faster hands and better movement (he's definitely more eye catching) but he let rounds go by not being busy enough at times.
He definitely had a lull 6/7/8, but think that may have been tactics to have a breather, since he didn't seem to have problems picking up the pace the last 3.
Interesting fight. I've seen it delayed. It really does depend what you look for in a fighter or how you like to structure you're scoring. I didn't score the fight, I might watch it again & do that but a couple of small things I did notice. GGG could be perceived as in control because he was the aggressor, worked the jab & threw more volume. But like some others are willing to say, Canelo worked his defence & movement great & made GGG miss a a lot. However, he didn't counter with punishing shots the way he normally would. Was that because he was a little wary of GGG's power? His punch output in certain rounds wasn't high enough but his defence was on point. A lot more difficult to score than some are suggesting. 118-110 is a joke though, no way GGG won just two rounds & I will watch it again. But honestly, GGG was happy throwing light shots (for him) a lot because he was wary of being countered but Canelo was wary of countering hard & often from what I seen, with some exceptions & eye catching single shots or odd combo. Competitive fight. On Instinct without scoring I would give it to GGG but not a dominant win by any means. It's that one judge score that as taken gloss off a good fight with differing styles. Pity, been a great year for boxing. It gives it a sour twist.
Watched it as neutral as like both fighters thought it was closer some have said above. Did think 115-113 card was spot but the 118-110 card is ridiculous on sky sports website it shows judges scorecards. You could clearly see what the crowd thought when Camelot said he won least 8 rounds Great fight tho
