Said before that these idiots on Boxnation could not score a beauty contest properly if faced with Kate Moss and Nicola Sturgeon. The commentary is awful to say the least and the same tripe spouted out time and again. Thought GGG won by 2 rounds at most but the fight was much closer than what the Boxnation commentary team thought. Many thought beforehand that there would be a contentious decision to screw another PPV fee out of the mug public and that is what happened.
I had GGG winnning by 4 rounds. He landed more, was the aggressor throughout. Canelo could only fight in spurts that was a big difference. Great fight ruined by corruption.
Golovkin won the fight. Don't know what Gary Lockett has been smoking in that studio saying Canelo won. Canelo showed flashes of brilliance at times but GGG dominated most of the fight
Boxnation still tweeting away trying desperately to sell repeats of this fight that is widely available on You Tube. Cannot see this PPV being anywhere near the success of other major fights on PPV.
Just watched the fight. Good fight some of them rounds hard to score tbf. Without scoring it hard to give it anyway but golovkins. Been a good competetive fight tho. Still suspect the last two opponents jacobs and canelo of being less than on the level. Canelo was an absolute tank in the ring last night. How is he putting on that much weight overnight. Hes meant to be the smaller man. His punching power looks very much enhanced also was whipping them shots in. I know hes went up 5 lbs but come on every punch hes throwing is solid for pretty much the twelve rounds. Wheres all the guys on here that have said for years punching power is something your born with. We,ve seen for years golovkin punching very very hard. Wheres the evidence on canelo. Cause i ll tell you something hes punching very hard atm. A lot harder than he used to with every punch. Their putting on a crazy amount of weight overnight. For the last few years hes avoided golovkin claiming hes not a 160 fighter etc. Made catchweight fights etc. Turns out afterall hes not only a 160 lb fighter but hes actually the bigger man. And for me hes punching every bit as hard as golovkin. Same with jacobs whos always been a puncher tbf. But hes coming in that ring huge. How are they managing it. Its not even effecting them. Like you,d expect canelo to be sluggish putting on say 15 pounds overnight. And yet its probably the fastest we,ve ever seen him. He couldnt lay a glove on mayweather a few years back. Was too slow. Hes bigger now. And yet punching faster. Something doesnt add up for me. Fought a good fight last night tbf. But their cheating ggg atm for me. Hes slowing up a bit. But his biggest problem is he cant get his usual work going cause these guys firepower is every bit as dangerous as his. And yet we,ve watched them for years and only really been overawed by one of them...golovkin. no ones sitting round the tv going wow look how hard canelo hits. Until last night anyway.
"He said he's a true Mexican man [and that he would] bring Mexican style. But he moved every round, moving, not staying". Can't believe GGG is moaning about a boxer not standing toe to toe with him for a proper tear up. Reminded me of Roberto Duran when he took his ball home against Sugar Ray Leonard in second fight.
Agree twenty think canelo fought a very smart fight last night. I actually think if canelo had any kind of stamina tank he would have even won the toe to toe battle last night. He doesnt tho...so only really could have fought the way he did. Good fight tho...had golovkin up...but some of them rounds hard to score. You ll be glad smith got the win last night mate. Seen him better but reckon he needed a fight like that. Probably needs a few more like that before taking on the big guns. Got to fancy him in the semi.
I was made up for him getting the win mate, but thought it was an underwhelming performance. It was 50/50 for me right up until he landed that big right hand in the 11th. He's got to improve cos he was eating jabs all night. I know you've not been convinced by him even before last night and I can see why you said it now. He's got some improving to do.
Yeah was a good win. Was quite impressed with skoglund mate. Tbh you dont really know how good he is cause both still a little bit untested could be that skoglunds really good or maybe smiths just not as good etc. Good toughish fight in the bank tho. I had it pretty close as well before the big right hand. But closed the show well. I m a big groves fan...but tbh i m a little apprehensive about that smith fight if they do meet in the final. And i m not a massive believer in smith. Got a lot to work with tho...massive at the weight. Pretty good puncher. Could cause groves problems with groves being that little bit vulnerable. Agree with the guys on the other thread...i m not sure gallaghers the answer. The little things letting smith down all seem to be boxing related...things the coach should be improving on. Could be an interesting tournament tho. Gonna watch smith/skoglund again this week mate cause ended up having a jack daniels too many last night to get a proper look at it. Was a good test for him tho...thats the type of fights smiths been needing.
It's funny how we all percieve hings differently I saw ggg hardly landing any clean shots. Canello caught lots of them and turning away , turning , slipping Canelos shots were hard and accurate . He did gas though and only gave a draw for ggg due to relentless pressure last 4 rounds . If canelo was naturally a bit bigger he would have toyed with ggg. Too fast and accurate for ggg plodding combinations
I agree with that. Skoglund could potentially be another Kessler, we'll find out in his next few fights but I did like him, and he was tough too. I'm a fan of Groves too. He's matured as a person and a boxer since those Froch/Jack defeats. I'm expecting a Groves-Smith final. Ps. What do you have with your jack daniels?
spot on... although GGG was forcing the fight i didnt see him landing too much...in fact it was a bit of a defensive masterclass from Canelo...slipping punches and coming back with flurries
Steadman on Boxnation had picked GGG to win before fight and holy **** could you tell in commentry!!it was like they were watching Pac v Rios! It is hard to score a fight when actively wanting 1 of the fighters to win... GGG had no rematch clause so a draw is good result as we surely get to see it again......
