Not really. British fighters are quite varied genetically. You have the fragile glass of the Amir Khans, Macaranellis, Herbie Hides, David Price's, Fury's, Lennox Lewis' etc etc. A multicultural society so genetics has little to do with it. I believe its moreso the training regimen and softness of british culture and their wussiness which produces glass mandibled fighters. Even their referees are wusses stopping fights prematurely. In Mexico you have this unruly dog eat dog culture with wild unofficiated fights which really bring forth the tough and iron chinned talent. People are bred to be tough there while in England its too gentlemanly with softie officiating. There is also a sense of pride and manliness in other cultures. Getting knocked down or out is humiliating and these people are conditioned and have the heart to remain strong and upright in the face of a savage beating to not shame themselves. In the UK culture getting knocked out dont mean anything as lads around the country get smashed out their faces on friday/saturday nights on the binge, staggering and collapsing everywhere. The pride and integrity is lacking. Btw Im jus talking out my azz here so dont take what I say seriously lol
You sound as though you are ignorant. That is a complete myth with no scientific evidence to back up those claims
Johnny Nelson 1 KO loss in 12 losses Len Harvey 2 KO's in 14 losses and a total of 140 fights Calzaghe was only down 3 times in his career Chris Eubank had a monster chin, only down twice in career
Ted Ked Lewis, Bob Fitzsimmons, Jim Driscoll, Jack Kid Berg, NP Jack Dempsey, Jimmy Carroll, Chris Eubank, Freddie Welsh, Jimmy Wilde granite all. Those are just the greats. Right now we have toughs like John Simpson, guys you probably don't hear a lot about outwith these shores, but boys that can hold punches just fine. IN the end, it probably is about ignorance. And the one or two embarrassing ones we've had lately.
That's the most concise and thought provoking explanation of the phenomenon that I have ever read. :yep
Amateur ranks and the generally poor, regional level of competition faced as an amateur doesn't contribute to their ability to one day take real punches?
You wont find many Brits using PEDs in Boxing when compared to American fighters.. actually makes you wonder how many legit fighters the good ol US of A actually has had throughout the decades.
