The crowd may have some effect on the judges but not much on the fighter. Gatti fought Mayweather in front of all his fans and it didn't do him one bit of good. Trinidad fought Hopkins in the Garden in front of 20k or so Puerto Ricans, and it did him no good. Steve Cunningham went over to Germany and fought Huck on his home turf and knocked him out. Skills win fights. If you fight better than your opponent, you will probably win. That's what really matters.

so what you are basically saying is that

a canadian fought an american in america

a puerto rican fought an american in america

and a yougoslavian fought an american in germany

as an example of home advantage :huh:D

Yes, it does seem counter intuitive. However, it's all about whose side the crowd is on.

    basically, in these cases, yes

Thats like saying Bute would have home advantage in Montreal.

Lewis kicked ass in the US

Hamed beat Kevin Kelly, Wayne McCoullough and Augie Sanchez in the US

I'm sure if you do some research the list goes on and on and on

Alan Minter v Vito Antuofermo in Vegas 1980.

The great Jimmy Wilde won plenty of fights in the US in his day as well.

If any of you read my thread correcty , which you obviously have not you might understand my Point.

I never said as soon as a fighter fights outside GB he loses, I stated that it would effect his level of performance. Which it has to the likes of Hamed, Hatton etc.

There better performances/ most convincing were on home soil.

What do you consider home soil? Mayweather and Hopkins best perfomances were in the U.S, but the fights took place in an area where the opponents had a large fan base. Pacquiao's best performance may have been against Barerra. This fight took place in San Antonio whic has a huge Mexican population.

Hamed was simply 'found out'. Against a top fighter he was always going to be up against it. His reliance on power cannot be understated.

The crowd factor is bull****. Did you not forget the majority of the crowd in the PBF/Hatton fight were Brits? The fight might as well have been in Manchester. The crowd had nothing to do with Ricky getting his ass whooped.

one of hamed`s best performances was when he wwent to wales in front of 15,000 steve robisnson fans and dominated robinson from the opening bell on what at the time was seen as a very hard fight.

personally i still regard this as a home fight, but it seems many on this thread disagree and that is in fact an away fight.

You neglect to mention the fact that British and other top fighters from smaller nations only tend to go to the US once they've established themselves at the top level. As a result, they end up fighting world class opponents so understandably look less impressive than they did when blasting out domestic opposition.

That said, the examples you gave aren't the best given that the Brit won in each case.
