Joe was over the hill by that point (to say the least) he'd beat the Rock convincingly prime for prime IMHO.

 

I'd still go for Calzaghe if I had to make a completely inaccurate analysis. Just a far less risky pick. Calzaghe won't have seen anybody with a weird style like Fitzsimmons but he will have seen lots of styles throughout his near 50 fight career and amateur career.

What is clear is Fitzsimmons will have seen nobody close to what Calzaghe is like. Calzaghe is pretty unique in these times nevermind in pre-modern times, they simply never had high work-rate fighters nevermind southpaws that are fairly awkward with it too.

 

Its a comparison of height dick head ! ...we all know how good marciano was ! Marciano 5'10 ...Louis 6'2 .... so hence that argument didnt stand up !

 

Will I be shot down for suggesting Two-Tonne? I know Louis was put on his arse but I think he didn't take him seriously...

Fitzsimmons was considered to have a weird ass style in his day. Looking at his hand-book he wrote, it was weird as hell.

Calzaghe IMO is more fundamentally sound and true, altghougt its no saying much.

 

Calzaghe win, every round he is focused during, to take an ultra comfortable decision.

Anyone who argues against a Calzaghe win, isn't worth arguing with.

 

I can yell you how I'd bet on this.... I'd split my money between Calzaghe on points and Fitz by KO. Fitz simply would not be able to win on points. No way would his hands last in light gloves if he tries to match Calzaghe's punch output and if they did Clazaghe would get stopped.

 

Calzaghe having the ability to study & analyse hours & hours worth of footage of Fitz would surely give him the win. Diet & preparation would also put JC miles ahead. Admittedly I know next to nowt about Fitz but the only way he'd win is by knocking JC out early doors...
