    True! But these days (IMHO) you should look at the opponents not the belts. Pac has no wins at 147 to compare to SRLs and Oscar has one disputed win at 160 against an unremarkable belt holder.

    Oscar most def. isn't a middleweight champion and Pac is borderline as a legit welter champ.

    Duran would decimate Pac at 135: that right hand would land all night (or for the seven or eight rounds it lasted)

    To be honest I can't see Pac competing with Leonard at all. As Gaz says, really bad matchup for Pac.

    I wouldn't favour Pac against Cuevas, Trinidad or Curry, let alone the likes of Leonard, Gavilan or Hearns (Duran beats him at any weight IMO)

    Janitor: I agree entirely. The more reading up you do on Fitz, the scarier he gets. The 2nd Maher fight (after the build-up) paints him as an almost supernatural puncher.

    Glad this has provoked the debate I hoped it would.

    I honestly think Harada still has a claim as the greatest Asian fighter of all time.

    -Two wins over Jofre top anything Pac has done

    -Looks sensational on film

    -Shouldve been a 3 weight World champ in the days of one title and no light/super divisions.

    I'll wait until Pac has definitively retired to make my decision.

    As Janitor says one thing we can probably agree even 120 years later is that Fitzsimmons was an absolutely devastating hitter and very durable.He regularily knocked cold much bigger men,and i think to concede a stone and a half to a guy like Corbett ,take a hell of a lot of punishment then stop him with a body shot in the 14th round,is some achievment. You would tend to think that Calzaghe's style and handspeed would give him the edge and it is hard to judge on the footage how nimble Fitz was on his feet.I don't think Calzaghe would stop him but i think if Fitz managed to get himself set and land the big one then Joe solid chin and all is going down.
