147lbs is the upper limit, it doesn't mean a catchweight can't be made below that. This is in the WBO rules and I think its the same for all major bodies.

Once agreed Cotto had no choice but to have the belt on the line.

i agree its in the rules but its a farce, catchweights are fine but not when titles are on the line, so Haye could for any non mandatory fight demand a catchweight off 92kg and everybody would struggle bar him!!!!

Not when you reportedly have to pay a million dollars for every pound you're over the weight.

Yeah but no ****er would agree to that. Cotto agreed because its by far the biggest payday of his career, that sort of softens the blow. Pacquiao will be about 150lbs on fightnight and Cotto will be nearer 160, its not as bad as it seems.

anything above 140 and below 147 is welterweight, but yeah the catchweight thing is pretty gay.

tough to call, if Kang is still anywhere near the fighter he was in Pride then he takes this. will probably avoid it but may bet on Swick.

I've just been having a look to see if there was anything worth wasting my money on and struggling to get excited by much . . .:-(
