Ponting's a boring **** in comparison. He might average like 3 more but for Lara's pure genius, habit of producing huge scores (at the expensive of the consistency you mention, true), the fact he was in a shite team with all the pressure and focus on him, scored runs against the best teams and best bowlers. He was great against Warne, McGrath and Murali. One could argue Ponting's biggest test bowling wise has been on turners in India...he didn't have to face his own bowling line up over the years :good

    Just food for thought.

All valid points, especially that of not facing his own bowlers......

On the flipside though you could say that Lara had licence to thrill - it's a shame how the Windies have gone into seemingly terminal decline, just when they sort themselves out their board step in and **** it up again.

You look at their best players now.....

    Gayle
    Sarwan
    Chanderpaul
    Bravo
    Sammy
    Ramdin
    Taylor

All world class/fringe world class - it's players 8-15 (by rank I mean) that let them down badly.

Thats always the question isn't it..did being in a **** Windies team help or hinder Lara. You could say he wasn't under pressure because nobody expected them to win. I tend to disagree, because Windies had a great history when he came around, they had a lot to live up to at the time. When he became known as a great player he had to live up to that time and time again with wickets falling around him.

TFFP, Beeston - What you think of Fulham this weekend? Can you see Bolton taking anything home? Looks a great price to me at 10/11 for a home win. . . .

I've got £8 on it already...... if Small wins (got £7 by stoppage & £11 for the win) that's going on it as well.

Maybe put a bit on the draw as insurance like, but Fulham don't lose at home to teams like Bolton, even if they have had a slow-ish start this season.

I've stuck £15 on it but tempted to go a little bit more.

Have Fulham got a lot of injuries...... I don't get 10/11 at all.

Just seems ****ing crazy to me :think

I'd make them at least evens (if not odds on) to beat all bar Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Everton, Villa, City and Spurs at home.

Do you like the look of anything else in the Eng. PL?

West Ham at home to Burnley? 5/6.

I quite like Man City but it's short at 2/7.

    Not really looked.

The only reason I noticed Fulham was because it came up on here during the week.

I'm looking at draws..... my cousin's hubby plays for Lincoln, who are **** - he told me today to run with a draw in their game.

Leeds are 4/9 against Kettering in the cup, not sure what team is gonna play though......

What do you play when you bet on draws? I used to go for doubles (usually pay out at about 10/1) and I used to make quite a bit. Haven't looked for them for a while now though.

It's the first time I have really looked, other than as a throwaway 50p bet at the bookies with my grandad!
