Was just going to post this, Matthews could lose on points in the UK. He has never been active enough and has relied on his (admittedly formidable) power to get him out of trouble. I've watched a bit of Barroso today and he looks more than a banger to me, good value imo.
Quick question for any guys experienced in boxing betting. Why don't the bookmakers offer more than 1 market for upcoming fights in advance? If I wanted to put a method of victory accumulator on right now, the only fight that has more than the win-draw-win market in advance is Mayweather-Pacquiao. From what I've noticed, they release more markets such as method of victory closer to the time of upcoming fights, probably so that you can't make method of victory accumulators that span 2 or 3 months to get massive odds. Every leading bookmaker seems to have the same policy. Anybody got any knowledge of this?
I can confirm that method of victory odds are only released early for fairly big fights, god knows why because I doubt method accumulators would be that profitable for the punter.
I'm convinced they do it so that you don't get better odds when you make an accumulator.. A lot of fights are quite easy to call when it comes to either a points win or a KO and they have to give you better odds on a method of victory over an outright win. If Wlad is 1/16 to win but for example 1/8 to win by KO and you put a load of other fights on a bet you're automatically getting better odds for method of victory outcomes which are pretty obvious rather than just betting on winners. I think they only release the markets early on huge fights because they know the casuals will lump money on big fights but they know the hardcore boxing fans will take them to the cleaners every time on more obscure fights. Either that or they just can't be bothered releasing more markets early for smaller fights...
ricky burns is 6/1 to beat figeroa, anyone got any info on how rickys looking in sparing etc? figeroa doesn't seem a brilliant natural boxer from what I've seen, and is often struggling before he lands a big punch. Think an on form burns can get a 12 UD against him. Burns just to win is 6/1, think he'll be around 10/1 to win on points (markets not opened for that yet)
This fight surely deserves its own betting thread. What's your money going on? Stoppage is good value for both fighters I put £100 on Floyd stoppage @ 7/1
Put £ 100 on that neither boxer will get a point deducted. 9/2 at coral. A honestly think ppl will get a surprise, pacquiao win!!!
