Opening with Luke Wright in the past was a massive error, he's quality when the ball is soft because he hits straight and long but he doesn't deal with the new cherry. He played a good 50 against India in one day cricket that convinced me he should be lower/middle order. Perfect foil for Morgan in terms of style too.
I'd run with the same top order in 50 over cricket as well. Forget Strauss and Cook - though I may go with Prior instead of Kieswetter :think Phew.... I'd be skint if it wasn't for that last ten overs! Anyone fancy the Windies to chase this down?
Nice one Beeston. What odds did you get on 190? I think I'll look at Morgan and Collingwood the whole way through this comp - not against Ireland or whoever they play tomorrow though. I think it'll be first come first served against them.
I prefer Kieswetter in ODI cricket, Prior always slogs them up in the air after getting 20. Kieswetter is a cleaner hitter, Prior is good for tests though. Not sure Lumb is good enough to play a longer innings in 50 over cricket, hes mainly just a quick 30 guy which is fine for 20/20 stuff.
12 or 14/1 :think I must have caught someone cold at the start on the exchange, can't think of any other reason. I think Lumb might be worth experimenting with, if he can score a run a ball 30 or 40 in ODI's it is a better option than someone scoring 60 off 80, like Cook or Strauss. Have some dynamic players, the Aussies have been dominant because they hit the opposition with the kitchen sink, the slowest scorers in their ODI side are Ponting and Clarke
I think Kieswetter/Strauss would be a good pair as left/right handers. There is no point saying lets **** off Strauss when he's captain, as much as I agree it won't happen. He can play the anchor I guess. :conf Pietersen, Colly, Morgan are bankers
Yeah.... Strauss can play the anchor role, and in a side full of hitters a man like that won't do any harm. Collingwood is handy for all sorts of reasons... Morgan and KP are the keys in that lineup. The bowling is a concern, especially amongst the quicks. What's going on with Rashid as well :nut
Gayle teeing off here, big time. EDIT - Strauss has to be in that side for me. Nobody has that WK spot nailed down and Steven Davies at Surrey is doing well. He could easily have forced his way in by the end of this season
I don't really trust any of our quicks to be consistent. Bresnan looks about the only one capable of hitting a line and length and he's nothing special, Broad tries to do way too much..why doesn't the lad keep it simple. Anderson is devastating on his day but has awful days. Great start by Sidebottom :nut
Sidebottom is wank. Gives away loads of runs and is in the Monty Panesar fielding appreciation group on Facebook.
Sidebottom has definitely lost his 'nip'. He was quality for a short period. All our pace bowlers are dodgy. Chris Woakes is looking an amazing prospect in county cricket with bat and ball, can't be long until he gets a look in.
Windies were 7/2, now they are 4/6. Here the rain comes, they need... 43/0 (or 46/1) off 5 to win. Wish I'd gone for it now :-(
