As you say Cobbler, discounting his cheating allegations; Margarito holds wins over Cintron, Clottey and Cotto. His loss to Santos was at LMW. I am struggling to place him and could definitely have him talked out of my list completely. Particularly since I have Williams outside the top ten but Marg, who was completely outboxed that night, sit in a decent position. Before the Mosely fight I put the Williams loss down to style. Probably the reason I personally rate him so highly is because of how much I did (and still do) rate Cotto (who, as we know, in turn has a win over Mosely). Marg's win over Cotto did catapult him into my top ten. I know that this is a criticism of pound for pound lists at the moment, but I dont see a problem in putting a boxer in if there's a big win for him. Especially considering some of the people lower down the list. For example, would Calderon have sneaked into this list ten years ago? Not a chance, but there are a lot of people who have him in there. As said, I am willing to listen to arguments for Marg to be dropped. And this is the first time I've done my list since the Mosely fight so I probably do need to sit and think for a bit longer. But as it stands, he's pretty much there because of the Cotto fight. Not the best reason I know, but to be fair, many have Rafa Marquez in their lists and as far as I can tell, it's because of a win over Izzy which has twice been avenged...
Good shout on Lopez. If I'm being honest, I forgot all about him!! I'd have him periphery like Williams
Of course I was! The Gazman knows I respect his Hatton loving ass on here fully, Im a **** on ESB, & know I irritate the life out of many. However, the Gazman knows I respect him as a man & a Hatton fan. Hey, wouldnt life be boring if we all got along all of the time? Thats my motto. Boxing is an emotive subject, I cant & wont be mr niceguy to anyone here if I have something I need to get off my chest. & i dont care if Gaz or anyone else doesnt love me back, I just post my true feelings, at all times. Aint that what a discussion forum should really be all about? **** making friends & influencing people. Im cut from a different cloth.
Dunky the problem is, most of the time your factually wrong and you come across as an 14 year old idiot with no boxing experience, which is why everybody on here holds you in contempt and laughs at your opinions ..
As if I need to make bullets for Mr Swollocks The Swollocks is a smart man, & hes even wound me up too in the past. ****er told me that if Harrison fought Marquez (I think, it may have been Barrera) Swollocks would go to the fight to cheer on the mexican!!! Lets just say if the fight had taken place & he was sitting next to my scottish ass cheering on the mexican? I wouldnt even report what would have happened, as there are kids reading this forum. Swollocks dont need me to go on no Hatton rant, we just happen to share common ground when it comes to your favourite fighter. In fact, if the truth be told its that brotherly love **** that goes on between us small band of Hatton haters that has been one of my highlights of posting here through the years! & thats the truth.
1 - Manny Pacquiao 2 - Joe Calzaghe 3 - Juan Manuel Marquez 4 - Israel Vasquez 5 - Bernard Hopkins 6 - Rafael Marquez 7 - Ivan Calderon 8 - Shane Mosley 9 - Celestino Caballero 10 - Vic Darchinyian Three SBW's!!!! And JML has a shout of getting in as well! Feel bad about leaving out Cotto; he could maybe fit in there somewhere.
Biggest wins over Molitor and Ponce de Leon (PDL was KO'd badly by JML later, and Molitor just didn't look the goods at all against the Panamanian - but Caballero has to get big points for the latter result). Also has solid victories over Parra, Sithchatchawal, Pastrana, Castillo and Valbueno. Someone like Lopez might have the more explosive victories (impressive KO's etc.), but Caballero has the better overall resume and holds two world titles in a packed division. However, I'll admit to my bias in favour of the lower weight divisions He sneaks into my list, but I wouldn't argue with others who have omitted him.
Molitor? He was kinda unproven. I wouldn't argue Lopez's inclusion yet anyway, he doesn't deserve it. I mean its an okay set of victories but hardly groundbreaking. Better than Paul Williams? More deserving than Cotto? No chance!
Williams and Cotto get brownie points from me for performing to a high enough standard in more than one division (Williams less so; Vince Philips isn't exactly touching the "elite status opponent bracket"). I don't think the gulf in resumes is that wide, especially with Williams (he beat Margarito, fair play to him - not looking as good a result after the big Mexican's recent loss though. But who else? Phillips? split a couple with Quintana? The corpse of Sharmba Mitchell?) Cotto has more of an argument on the resume front, I'll grant you that. But I would still think Caballero has a more than fair shout of a top ten placing.
