    Frank Bruno 1989
    Gary Mason 1989
    Alex Stewart 1990
    Joe Bugner 1986-87

    Obviously Bugner already fought Bruno.

But how would mason and stewart do against the bugner who beat tillis, page and bey?

How about bruno v stewart and mason.....and so on?

Which is strange given that he was a two time British Champion!
This old gag again. Bugner was a nationalised British citizen after fleeing Hungary as a young child in 1956.
Long after fighting Ali, Fraziers, Lyle and Shavers Bugner also became an Australian citizen after making a comeback and moving there in 1986.

Did Bugner renounce his British citizenship when he moved over to Australia? Afterall it is possible to hold dual nationality like Lennox Lewis who held both British and Canadian citizenship.

Thread has been derailed a little lol

Bugner was very much a brit and a formidable pivotal figure in its hw history...being relavent from 1971 with his win over henry cooper right up to his 87 battle with bruno.

    Stewart was born in london..

The point being these 4 were elite level contesting heavys and thus make for interesting competitive matches......horace notice was not...hence why he isnt included

From what I remember about Mason, I always had the impression that he suffered from playing second fiddle to the far more popular Bruno. Despite having the same management and coaching team, it was obvious that Bruno was the favoured fighter who was been pushed to stardom and Mason the one in his shadow. I actually thought Mason was the more natural fighter and would have beaten Bruno had they ever been allowed to fight.

It's a shame that most people just remember the Lennox Lewis fight when they think of Mason. I actually thought that even though Lewis was winning the fight, Mason wasn't doing that badly until he got hit in the eye either by a thumb or a punch and couldn't continue. The fact that the eye injury effectively ended his career prematurely soon after just shows how unfortunate Mason was, certainly in comparison to his more celebrated stablemate.

I saw most of Bruno and Mason's fights from ringside Mason was too slow and lacked Bruno's jab and power. He would have given him a decent fight though.
