    Who wins this fantasy tournament:

    Jack London
    Frank Bruno

    David Haye
    Tommy Farr

    Henry Akinwande
    Henry Cooper

    Bruce Woodcock
    Gary Mason

winners of 1 and 2 fight as do winners of 3 and 4 and then obviously the winners of those fight in the final.

With no Lewis there it's Haye's to lose. he's head and shoulders above the field.

Haye and Bruno in the final, not sure who i'd pick, probably Haye, although Bruno is very underated I think.

Suprised to see Lewis and Hide missing from the list.

I would say Farr just looking at the list BUT tough to call really depends how you rate Gary Mason which is pretty hard to do.

NO WAY Haye beats Farr im afraid guys cant ever see Haye giving Louis or Bear a good fight or beating Braddock

    Haye.

Great fighter, in terms of British history. If you don't like him, fine. But he was a quality, quality boxer. He's going to destroy Chisora - it'll prove how much VK has deteriorated.

And Bruno is scandalously underrated, as said above.

:huh The bloke is a British institution for losing bravely; how can he possibly be underrated? A life and death finale with Oliver McCall, a flattening of Coetzee and a victory over a 37 year old Bugner are his winning accomplishments... He got more than his fair share of kudos.

A world champion who was rated in the top five of the alphabets through the second half of the 80s, continued being a decent contender (and a champion, albeit that was timing) in the 90s. there have been far worse alphabet champs - Ruiz, Byrd, brewster - and he gets treated as a bit of a joke. Mainly his own fault, but watch how he fought. an elite heavy, better than Hide and Akinwande and a bit behind Haye in terms of heavy talent. Hell, we're talking up Fury... he wouldn't last a round with any of these guys.

Actually he was rated from 84 onwards (which when you look at his opposition, shows how poor the division depth was) and by default the European Champion got a rating, hence the rating from 85. But that fact does not hide the ring performances, which at the time consisted of the Cummings first round, the Bonecrusher collapse and even one or two moments of discomfort against Eklund.

I think Byrd and Brewster may of had his number if they were around in his pomp. I remember Bruno struggling a bit with The Truth in the time frame, although it worked in his favour, as he finally got some quality rounds in, and Francis did somehow manage to programme into him the abilty to hold when stung.

I think he may of got to Hide, but Akinwande would of had his number, he would of been far to awkward for The Bomber to work out, and Bruno would of run out steam late against Henry, no doubt a mile in front at the time. As for Fury, well I remember my old man discussing with his mates in 83ish who would win between Frank and Noel Quarless, as it was perceived a pick'em.

Hindsight shows that to of been silly, my point being, although I personally, seemingly like you, do not think much of Tyson, it perhaps is best to give it 30 years and then we can measure like for like, using hindsight.

note i didn't mention Mason... however, Tyson is extraordinarily poor for the hype he's getting. I'm so annoyed with the way Chisora took that fight.

    Doesn't help that I hate - absolutely hate - the religious cr*p.

also, Brewster would have been mullered by Bruno. Good, straight puncher and very, very hard hitting. bruno was reasonably slick for a heavy, i don't think Byrd would have had enough tricks to get by him. willing to accept that Byrd might have been a problem, but I was never soldon the guy and he lost - whatever the scorecards said - to far worse fighters.
