David price (25-7) notable wins- John McDermott Audley Harrison Sam sexton Matt Skelton Dave Allen titles won - English, commonwealth, British, WBA continental. Matt Skelton (28-9) notable wins - Michael sprottx2 Danny williams John McDermott titles won- English, commonwealth, British, European , world title challenger Michael Sprott (42-29) notable wins- Timo Hoffmann Danny Williams Audley Harrison Matt Skelton Edmund gerber Brian minto Martin rogan titles won- English, British, commonwealth, European John McDermott - (28-8) notable wins Matt Skelton Scott gammer Pele Reid A roided Larry O who was on a streak titles won - English, British Iv left out Danny Williams and Audley, probably others. Just these 4 as they are quite hard to separate
John McDermott nwas robbed against Fury which isnthe best win out of any of them. Price has the best overall resume and he gets my vote.
I think Matt Skelton was the best of that lot. I listed him in the top 10 of my ATG HWs (excluding active fighters). He won the European title, he challenged for the world title. He was as strong as an Ox, had a great chin. None of those you listed ever challenged for a world title, and he went the distance. From 2012 he was washed, 45 years old+. The losses from then on need to be ignored in my view. I would take a prime Skelton to beat any of the lot you have listed H2H, and he is equal to them or better for achievements too. The Skelton who knocked out McDermott in 2005 and beat Danny Williams by decision in 2006 was a serious fighter. He was 38 - 39 years old then too. That version of Skelton would have done a Tony Thompson on any version of David Price too.
let’s stick to the topic and not start crying over the fury fight. Sick of fury getting shoehorned into every thread
I wavered between sprott and Skelton. gerber and Hoffman just slightly got it for sprott for me if Skelton started boxing younger he could have went further
It is a close run thing for sure. Sprott was a very good fighter. But is it difficult to rank him over Skelton because he lost twice to the younger version of him?
true H2H but sprott has a pretty good list of domestic wins and a couple of good euro level. I just edge sprott, but Skelton was more talented. He started just too late
In my opinion resume 1- sprott 2- Skelton 3- price 4- big john H2H (at their best) 1- Skelton 2- price 3- sprott 4- big john
Skelton is the only one who fought for a world title against chagaev and he worked hard to get there. I believe this beats the others on that list. Danny Williams beats them all though to be honest. British title holder, challenged for the ebu. Shock win against a faded Tyson and fought for the world title against vitali Williams betters Skelton imo
I know you said you left him out but I choose Danny Williams. He is one of the greatest heavyweight boxers from our shores 100%
An I missing something? Price destroyed everyone at that level.. This includes 2 of the candidates on the poll. How is this even a question? Price only ever got in trouble when he moved above domestic level. I think he’d still clear up at British level now and that’s with all his confidence issues which have made him much worse than in them 08-12 days.
skelton was 45 Audley was at the end of his disastrous career in his 40s McDermott was About to retire The best version of Sexton wouldn’t beat the best version Skelton or sprott dave Allen overhyped and not won anything. sprott beat gerber, Hoffman, rogan, minto, younger audley. He also won the european. skelton got to world level, fought for a title and also won the european
