What's the history on this title? is it more or less sought for than say the English title? Im guessing its simply a bauble for lower-ranked fighters but is there anything more to it than that?

level-wise i'd say its def below the English roughly on par with area title's. tends to be honest to make small hall shows more marketable so they can put theres a title fight on the posters etc

Its really for small hall show ,the rounds are 10 x 2 as opposed to 10 x 3 ,they dont have to be ranking and there is a International Version ,some respectable fighters have held it Ricky Burns ,Curts Woodhouse of recent times.. i would say it sits below area/celtic level on merit but there has been some Semi decent title holders of it ...i know if i had a small promotions show io would be getting one of these

It was set up by small hall promoters in the early 90s.

And the main point of it is to allow these promoters to use the term 'Championship Boxing' on advertising. Spade a spade, it means nothing. And I'm not talking random' interim emeritus super champion' nothing, it really does have no value rankings wise as far as I'm aware.

It's main purpose seems to pretty much be as a 'trophy' for the winner of the main event, and nothing more. Which is fine, unlike some other major belts it doesn't claim to be anything it isn't.

don't think its always 10 x 2's sure ive seen it fought for 10 x 3's like people have said its just like a trophy for the winner of main event of small hall shows so dont think theres any stipulation on the number of rounds or round length just depends on what distance the fight is anyway

I know it's only a stay busy fight for him, but it's a shame to see Derry Mathews fighting for that 'title' tomorrow cos a few years ago when he was beating the likes of Simpson/Foster Jr I was convinced he'd be at world level around about now. However, at least he seems to be back on the mend and I'd have to fancy him vs Rees were that to still happen

I think Matthews has made a pretty damn good comeback, you never know what level he may end up at :good

I didnt even know you could do pro bouts for 2 mins until i went n saw the Lee McAllister card in June. Seems strange to me

10 x 3...... Also its a way of matching area level fighters from different regions for a title.

I fought for it twice both times against guys in or around the top 10-15
