Look forward to it. Mine was based on performances over past 18 months as requested in the thread. Hence Lynes relatively high ranking - 5 consecutive wins, won back to back Titles (British & Euro) and successfully defended both, etc.
Because he beats him by any criteria. Recent resume, Mormeck in his backyard for the WBA, WBC and ring belts then unifies vs. Maccarinelli to be all but undisputed cruiserweight champ against outclassed by Mayweather and an impressive win over horribly shot Castillo Skillwise it's no contest either
Skills is the issue, its not resume4resume or form4form, its pound4pound, does Haye beat Hatton p4p.... ?
Not for me, no. I am a fan of both - but feel that Haye is progressing nicely at the moment and in time, will be Hatton's equal. But not at the moment - Hatton has never looked like losing in his weight class (but was beaten by PBF) whilst Haye (other than his defeat by Thompson) has been chinned a few times whilst, admittedly, not being in the greatest difficulty. Hatton for me.
Agreed, i think Haye needs space and time and Hatton wouldnt give him none of those luxuries Scale Haye down.. Hatton all day, scale Hatton up then maybe different, he maybe couldnt eat the punches he takes at heavier weights.... p4p Hatton
It starts getting hazey when you talk about how someone 'hasn't looked like losing in their weightclass'. p4p lists should not be about overall resume, otherwise where do you draw the line? Hopkins would still be a top p4p fighter using that sort of logic... It should be either recent results (and manner of victory - which is often overlooked) or skillset. Ideally a combination of both, they are usually the best lists... Hatton's recent results are a bad loss, a somewhat impressive win against Castillo, but not greater than Haye's when put into context, and a few pretty mediocre performances against C levels
I'm no expert and I cancelled Sky Sports a while back, but here's my list. 1. Calzaghe 2. Haye 3. Hatton 4. Witter 5. Arthur 6. Froch 7. Macca 8. Woods 9. Khan 10. Rees 11. Mitchell 12. Skelton 13. Moore 14. Jennings 15. Lynes
There is an argument for him to be in there, and I think a couple have already said it too. I just despair for British boxing that he can be even nearly the top!!! It is a bit of a golden age at the moment for us with Hatton/Haye/Calz (in no particular order before people start kickin off!) but outside of that I'm not sure about the depth. I think Khan will be world class, at the risk of upsetting Americans, but after that I dont think the names on the list will do all that much. I need to sit down with some spare time and do some due dilligence on my British list I think. For example, someone like Lynes - I'm not familiar with his record and yet he's touted as one of our best talents? Dont want to put a dampner on things because I suppose any nation, at any one time, will only have 2/3 world class boxers and yet we have two or three ELITE boxers and we are a tiny nation. But after those three (and excluding Khan's potential) I dont think we have all that much to offer.
Well what do you suggest? Maybe C+ if I'm being kind He virtually got shut out and outboxed by Ricky Hatton. No B class boxer loses every round to Ricky Hatton. It's like getting knocked out by Ian Napa.
