I think the lack of respect comes from a lack of depth in the division when the title became vacant - I personally thought the quality of boxing in the Dodson v Quigley (vacant belt) and Quigley v Smith fights were poor for a British title fight.

 

When you say things like 'when fighters began to defend themselves' and 'stopped slugging' it shows what a thick, ill-informed poster you are.

So, instead of trying to debate, and saying things like 'Pac would beat Lamotta', why don't you just admit you're clueless? And if you're clueless on that,t hen you're clueless on boxings evolution, and therfore clueless on alltime lists and Calzaghe and Floyds alltime standing.

Quigley Smith bout was a pretty poor fight, but I had that down to a style clash.

I thought Dodson looked good against Quigley, but for the times he was put down (ordinarily, that would be a stupid line, but I think I gave Dodson every round bar the ones he touched canvas (second and last?)).

Main reason I've picked Dodson over Smith is the relative performances over Quigley.

Amazing fact of the week - Nathan King was the opponent for Quigley and Dodson respectively prior to they're vacant title fight.

Dodson scraped it by a point and quigley won in the 5th. Safe to say De Gale is at that level.

IF smith steps up any higher than domestic level he will get taken out.

 

I'd love to see what happens if he does step up. I think there is every chance he will meet someone who is too much for him, whilst at the same time there is every chance we will see the best of him.
