Just reading a thread about the boring divisions and light weight came up a few times. In the Uk the light weight division is pretty hot at the moment. Does the USA have divisions like this and titles to be sought after before moving on to world honours?
USBA/NABO/NABF, but none are respected as much as the British (or Commonwealth, or especially the Lonsdale outright)
Its only use to give young prospect some recognition. One of those belts can get a fighter at least a spot on espn friday night fight.
Nobody cares enough, no. Plus, each is associated with a "big league" org (WBA/WBC/WBO/IBF) so they don't generally play nice together.
NABF/NABO etc are not comparable to EBU. I'd rather compare them to WBO European or some other minor title like that. There is no American continental equivalent to EBU (European championship) because all the titles there are split between the major governing bodies just like the world titles. Also, EBU (European title) > British title
Not US but the Japanese title is VERY highly regarded (probably the second highest national title out there...or maybe the highest below 135) whilst the OPBF is the EBU equivalent for ASIA (the PABA is much lower in class than the OPBF though serves a similar purpose with a WBA affiliation)
