BBC Sport have it: 1. Haye 2. Froch 3. Hatton 4. Witter 5. Woods 6. Mitchell 7. Murray 8. Khan 9. Moore 10. Brook I'd take Murray out and put Munroe in personally. I'd also probably have Khan above Mitchell. Anyone agree/disagree with the list?
1. David Haye 2. Ricky Hatton 3. Carl Froch 4. Junior Witter 5. Clinton Woods 6. Amir Khan 7. Jamie Moore 8. Ryan Rhodes 9. Kell Brook 10. Kevin Mitchell
It's interesting Haye is now consensus #1. Genuises like myself had him above Hatton anyway. I can't quibble TOO much with the BBC's list. I might make a few changes in the lower positions..but really..it doesn't matter that much they got the main guys right. I'm convinced Woods is not that good anymore either.
No disrespect intended, but Woods is **** and has been for years. Shows how weak and shallow things have become when Carl Froch is considered the 2nd best fighter in Britain and an ancient Clinton Woods is top 5.
I have to agree...at the top end things are bleak. I think the medium term is also going to be a disaster. These guys like Khan, Murray, Mitchell that are on the cusp of reaching the world level will likely come up short. Long term there is reason to be optimistic as there are some good talents.
Interesting that Arthur, Cook and Maccarinelli don't make any of our lists when 8-10 months ago they'd have been pretty much certs for the top 10.
I think thats what happens to B- class fighters that pick up paper belts. Their positions are tenuous until they prove it on a consistent basis and they failed to do so.
Murray will definitely come up short. Mitchell might get a belt but won't hang onto it for long. Khan is our best hope (and when you consider his less than solid chin that's a bit worrying really).
We had 7 or 8 world champions at one point just over a year ago. Even Gavin Rees had one for christ's sake
