Yeah Yeah it was. They said Laing was a nightmare to spar. Michael Watson was full of praise for him. I don't think he worked hard enough with his talent. Although a great win it also has to be said he must have beat an under trained Duran as well. When Duran was in shape he was special.
Laing was a genuine Rasta who was always stoned which obviously makes training and dedication a bit hard !!! He is a sorry state these days which is sad to see
Not strictly speaking a challenger, since he was the Champ, but...... I remember Benn v McClellan. Everyone was saying Benn had no chance. From the start it looked like a massive mismatch, how Benn survived round one I still don't know. Maybe a little bit of luck and kindness from the ref and a whole lot of heart. I think in todays boxing world that fight gets stopped in the first. Still, with balls of steel and heart of a lion he recovered and secured a great victory.
