SOURCE: http://tgr.ph/ngWaZC I agree with this assessment. Khan is still just 24 years old. He needs to work on his balance, and he needs to work on tightening up his punches. He also needs to prepare his body to be able to fight at 147 pounds. If Mayweather and Khan fought today, Mayweather would pick Khan apart, and could even stop him if Floyd caught Khan with the kind of shot that knocked out Ricky Hatton. Khan is improving rapidly. But he still is too green and has too many holes to be able to beat Mayweather at this point in time, in my opinion. But, his time will come, if he continues to work hard with Roach and stays dedicated.
it's pretty much spelled out that he'll have at least 2 fights before Mayweather. Another year of experience plus another year of wear and tear on Mayweather and it could be a great fight.
That sounds about right. If I were Roach and Golden Boy, I'd be looking at 1-2 years before that bout. Khan's not ready yet, clearly. Hopefully, Floyd will be able to keep his skills until he's like 36 or so, like Calzaghe did.
Yep. Or else he'll get beat just as Hatton did, by being forced to move up before he is prepared for it (as well as not having the skill set to win).
Floyd at 36 would be fighting younger and guys who are just as fast as him while Calzaghe box older and slower boxers at his age.
Khan has to think like a business man and that is a dollar today is worth more now than tomorrow!! If Floyd is next he is next its about that money and Khan is not a stupid kid he wants that big pay day!!!
khan and mayweather have been linked to each other for a few years now, mayweather has a fighter of the year schedule layed out for him in pac and khan in 2012, either way his 0 goes next year if he fights them.
If Floyd wants Khan he needs to take that fight because you just can't tell with Floyd he might retire or take a lay off and Khan may lose a huge pay day!
In 18 months time Mayweather will slow down and be ready for the taking, until then he has too much ringcraft for Amir.
