Yes, but guessing at what knowledge he might have acquired and whether or not he would use it makes a hypothetical h2h (which requires a lot of thought anyway) just too tenuous and pointless. It's easier and more meaningful to consider the two participants just the way they were at different points in time.

So how do you think the proposed fight would play out, how and why would Brock win?

This is the saddest part about MMA. "fans" who spend their time surfing records on Sherdog but have never taken the time to watch the fights.

Anyway personally i think that version of Coleman still tools ANY version of Brock. The irony is even in 2000 Coleman had already started to slip. I actually think the PRIDE GP flattered him. As he had an easy route through the tournament.
Shoji was just a blown up welterweight and was far too small to give Coleman any significant challenge. To be honest Coleman still looked average beating him with many expecting Shoji to get stopped.
Igor was coming off two tough wins over Sakuraba and Goodridge. The real hero of that tournament was Sakuraba. He fought Royce for an hour and half and still continued in the GP. Sheer insanity when you think each man had to fight 3 times that night. If anything when his corner through in the towel that also flattered Igor somewhat who himself was also spent.

That little ****wits idoitic comments are really starting to get on my nerves. But **** it he's a waste of time and a troll

Anyway, Id have to disagree with you there. As much as it pains me to say it, I think over the modern day 3/5 round format, we'd see the sae old Mark against Brock, shoot, gas, tap. Dont get me wrong over the two fighters Mark is my favourite, but as limited as they both are, I think Brock shades this on stamina alone. Coleman hasnt got the stand up to do a Cain, and though he's probably the better wrestler, I think Brock's own skills and size may negate that advantage

But for some reason, Coleman was always at his best at tourneys, the dude had heart and determination for days. I think that the 'Im the toughest SOB here' aspect of an 8 man round robin really motivated Mark. True, he had the easier draw as you said, and I watched Goodridge v Igor again last night and that really was a war of attrition until Igor got the ko. But it's still a good victory for Marc, and he really hasnt been as effective since. Saying that though, look at how much punishent he took during the Smith/Shogun II fights before they put him away, I dont think this would be easy for Lesnar, and Mark could tough it out I guess. I think if Brock was on Igor's side of the draw Mark would still take this

And when they write the MMA bible, under heart and courage it should just say Sakuraba. They guy is a legend, enough said

And that's the reason why i favour Mark over any version of Brock. The GP's didn't necessarily produce the best fighter in the tournament. But they sure defined who was the toughest. And Mark Coleman was a BAD man.
Whilst his gas tank was a joke thanks to all the weights and steroids there's no way he would just wilt in front of Brock. Can you imagine if Brock ate some of his patented knee's and head butt's? (Ok may be not head butts as PRIDE didn't allow them unless it was Wandy intentionally fouling someone).
Coleman is/was absolutely a better wrestler than Brock. Personally id think he'd have no trouble getting Brock to the floor and destroying him with some vicious GnP Hammer House style.

And Sakuraba IS Bushido. No other fighter past or present can claim Bushido more than Sakuraba.

Thinking about it I think the Don Frye I version of Mark would truly give Brock Hell. He had confidence and was injury free. Id put that version very high in my favourites if the had an ATG HW tournament. After that I think his confidence and stamina would be a major issue still. He'd outwrestle Brock for sure, but for how long. Randy did well with the Greco/Roman clinching but knowing Coleman he'd go straight for the double leg. If there were no time limits then it's hard to see Brock getting up. But if he could last to the end of the 1st, then he could take advantage of the stamina issuse for a ref stoppage.Because he sure as **** aint gonna make mark quit with g'n'p, maybe a sub

They certainly dont make them like they used to

I can reel off a list of names circa early 2000 late 1990's that were just ridiculously tough. Guys like Don Frye would fight just for fun in parking lots. He would take a shot of Vicodin with half his leg falling off and get back in the ring to fight.
Look at the hell Randleman put his body through for his entire career. Shamrock was the same.
I truly believe that MMA will never rediscover fighters like those. Back then the sport was all about proving who's martial art was the best and fighters wore that with a great deal of pride. MMA's not like that any more.
