Brock Lesnar Returns This Summer, Fights Carwin-Mir Winner

UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar will return to the Octagon this summer against the winner of the March 27 UFC 111 matchup between Shane Carwin and Frank Mir. Lesnar and UFC President Dana White announced his return in a Wednesday appearance on SportsCenter.
Lesnar, who defeated Mir in July at UFC 100 in his most-recent fight, first fell ill in September with mononucleosis, which forced him to withdraw from a November matchup with Carwin. Lesnar’s health issues escalated when he collapsed in Canada and was diagnosed with diverticulitis, which put his fighting career in jeopardy.

I imagine they could wind up fighting Gonzaga-Dos Santos around the time of a Brock vs Carwin/Mir. Would set up a nice little unoffical tournament.

Nog vs Cain versus JDS vs Gonzaga. However Nog coaches JDS so there could be a conflict of interest but I would want to see it.

UFC said that if Mir or Carwin get injured etc then Cain or Nog get the title shot.

I expect Gonzaga and Nog to win so I believe that will happen although if JDS does win I could see Nog sitting out and waiting until Mir/Carwin/Lesnar emerge.

That's actually very good news. I'm not his biggest fan but I would never wanna see an athlete's career come to an end like that. I'm glad he's better. With that being said, Mir is gonna beat him in the 3rd fight.

It is possible he didn't receive great care because, like in the US, some facilities are better than others.
But because Lesnar refuses to name where he was and doesn't elaborate on why exactly the care was so bad, I'm skeptical. He identifies himself in the interview as a conservative republican. I don't doubt this is a political statement more than anything, contributing to the endless scare tactics perpetuated by conservatives in the US who want everyone to believe health care reform is evil.

I'm not saying it isn't possible he received poor care, but since his story is so vague, and his politics so obvious, I have trouble taking him seriously.

Hell yes IMO Frank Mir will soon run this divison unless of course Fedor joins after his Strikeforce contract is up.

Guys... Mir is NOT going to beat Lesnar. Unless of course Brock has seriously lost a lot of his ability, won't be the same for some reason. Mir has gotten better than he was before... but Brock just beat him recently, and shown between their first two fights that he is not only simply better than Mir... but he also had progressed faster than Mir too. Mir basically said that himself. Now... considering how green Brock is in MMA... he is going to just keep getting better.

Mir was very cocky going in believing he was just to experienced for Lesnar and anytime they hit they ground Mir will submitt without taking into consideration certain things. IMO Mir had Lesnar rocked in that 2nd round with those elbows and knees but he got wild jumped up in the air on the 2nd, fell flat on his back and his head has pinned up agianst the cage he was done at that point. Crazy saying this but Mir's best chance agianst Lesnar is keeping it on his feet hes a much more well rounded striker and has been showing power in his recent fights. Lets face it Lesnar was actually the smarter fighter in the rematch while Mir decided he wanted to do his best Urijah Faber impression and go crazy. Mir comes in with a gameplan ill always pick him over Lesnar.
