He's as much a professional fighter as Kimbo is. NEITHER had ANY background in MMA. If you expected Brock to develop a standup game in the 5 or so fights he's had then im afraid you're delusional. There's a pedigree that has to be adhered to in this sport. Even the guys in TUF have to be pro's and have to had some pro fights. Brock was flung onto the big stage and lets be frank went as far as his talent could take him along with the silver spoon the UFC fed him. It was very much a symbiotic relationship. What Brock did isnt that dissimilar to what Sapp did in the K1 and in the early PRIDE days. At some stage he was bound to be found out.
Kimbo never beat anyone close to the calibre of Mir or Couture, nor did he hold a prestigious, major belt. I agree with you completely on Lesnar's abilities though.
i used to be a fan of wwe till it got rubbish in 2004 and then i stopped watching. IF he goes back to wwe i would so watch it again lol ! i think it a rumor though
many wrestlers i have sparred with (of course not of UFC style) tend to be slow and tight...the type of training they do can do that for limb movements..however...if they are good athletes (as Lesnar is..great in fact)..they get better as they go...but they take some beatings in sparring...get embarressed a bit here and their...and just have to suck it up and keep going. Thats the problem....lesnar by all reports wouldnt let his sparring partners hit him.....and the work he did do was much less then he needed..... thats why his standup hasnt improved..and why he still turns and runs when hit a bit (something soft beginers do....and not even every beginer does that).
just shows his true character, a true champion wouldn't run away from his problems (cain) he'd train his ass off and try everything he could to get his belt back
So the bully gets hit in the face and leaves with his tail between his legs. Thought he had more guts and wanted to show that he's a real fighter. So back to the WWE it is - what a real fighter!
yea true..but to be a great fighter you have to have a pride and will beyond the money...a toughness that accepts the fact that you might lose...might get hurt..might even kill..i dont think lesnar has that intangable.
I call camel****. Carwin took a sledgehammer and hammered him square on the face umpteen times, Brock not only survived, but came back to pull one of the most technically outstanding subs seen outside of Gomi. Give the guy his due :smoke
I believe that alot of the hype behind Lesnar was dishoniest but the man himself is clearly a legit fighter(even if he reacts poorly to getting hit) and has stepped into the cage agenst other legit fighters. I'm not going to bash anyone who's done that if they deside to retire early.
Gross missreporting of what Meltzer said...Meltzer himself has a good long moan about it on a follow up radio show.
theres no point of going back to WWE now. After Lesnar got the **** beat out of him by Velasquez his drawing power went way down.
So did Kimbo vs Thompson. Brock wasnt taking those punch's because he was trying to win. He was eating them because he has NO STRIKING background and didnt know how to defend himself intelligently. Its an absolute given Brock would react that way because he has NO BACKGROUND in MMA. He's talent took him as far as he could go. Its really that simple. Add to the fact that the UFC gifted him a title shot when he was a whopping 2-1. That has zero credibility in my eyes.
