Igor is one of my very favourite MMA guys He started as pure kickboxer and you are right, he did get some wins over even jiu jitsu guys using pure explosiveness and athleticism. He did later crosstrain and used grappling techniques to win, notably against "dirty" Bob Schreiber and Gilbert Yvel, both feared strikers. I think he was just an all-round exceptional fighter. I'm by no means writing Tyson off against Lesnar, and, as you skilfully argue, some guys always have a chance due to their explosiveness and ferocity. It's just a pretty shitty matchup for Tyson, particularly since he's a come forward fighter and not a cutie with his footwork.
That shot don't mean ****, if you eat an uppercut or a knee on the way in. Hell, neither boxing or wrestling means ****, in a street fight, if they get kicked in the nuts, or someone jabs his finger knuckle deep into an eye.
A kick to the nuts is fabulous! I've only ever landed one, and it was by mistake, but boy, that guys kids must have flats heads today PS- eyegouging is harder than it sounds
1on1 in the streets, wrestling can be very, very dangerous weapon. But Mike could go into beast mode, doing everything, biting, eye couging etc. Brock's chin is not the best one either, but yeah.. Not a fan of Lesnar nor do I think highly of his MMA skills but he knows wrestling, as far as I know he had a decent / good amateur wrestling career but I dont really understand that much about the wrestling programs of USA
Brock actually has a good chin, but obviously doesn't like to get hit. Against Tyson he obviously wouldn't take any risk and would just shoot for a takedown as quickly as possible... And he would most likely get it no problem, considering his wrestling background, size and athletic ability .. And that's it for Tyson.
Brock was NCAA champ once or twice, I don't recall. If you could shrink him down and put him in lower weight classes, where there were more skilled guys, he probably wouldn't have been NCAA champ.
1) No its not - I've tried 2) Even if it was, who would have the advantage in eye-gougery if it went to the ground, the huge-ass wrestler that's going to be in control, or the smaller boxer who is lying squashed under 270lb of roided muscle?
Apparently he had a pure wrestling match with the smaller Kurt Angle and Angle out-skilled him ... though only just so. So yeah, Brock is a decent wrestler but its the combination of his freakish size and wrestling that makes him god-awful for a little guy with no ground game to fight. I'd be cheering for Tyson make no mistake, because I think Brock is a ****, but realistically it's gonna be uphill for Mike.
