I keep seeing Mora's name floated as a legit opponent for Pavlik, but the guy has not beat a single combatant in the top 20 at 160. Pavlik -Mora would be a complete waste of time. It would tarnish Kelly, and send Mora into retirement. Bronco on the other hand is now the NABF middleweight title holder, and even though he is considerably past his best, I think he can still give alot of younger guys a very long night. In other words, I think McKart can function as a solid gate keeper. In addition, winning the NABF title is a very traditional part of the path to a world title fight. Granted, it does not have the kind of prestige it had when guys like Frazier and SRL won it, but it does still carry some meaning. The main reason "Superman" challenged Pavlik back in July of 2006 was that he thought taking the NABF title from him would be the fastest way into the top ten at 160. He seriously underestimated Kelly, went in with a stupid fight plan, and got KTFO for the first time in his long career. Now he has that title, but is rated at something like #32 at 160. So why not McKart vs "The Latin Fake?" If Mora could beat Bronco it would show that he has at least enough skill to go 12 rounds with a cagey southpaw. Up to this point he has never even been in a 12 round fight. He had one scheduled with Eric Regan, but for some reason changed his mind and insisted on a ten round non-title fight. Moreover, I don't think Mora can beat the aging Mckart. They would go back and forth for a few rounds and somewhere mid fight Bronco's experience would take over. He would hand Mora his ass on a boxing glove several times in the middle rounds, and then score a late tko. Bronco would get a well deserved good pay day, and people could quit making ridiculous suggestions like Pavlik vs Mora. Boo
that's a good idea. mora amazes me. aside from the contender show which admittedly has given him some exposure, who really follows this guy? it's not like he has a hatton type following. do many latinos follow him? :huh i just never understood the attention and help he is getting when his biggest accomplishment is beating peter manfredo. i can't remember any other fighter who is able to knock back fights (and with the unified champ no less!) and change opponents because he feels like it, when he has absolutely no worth! i must be missing something here
I'd like to see that fight for McKart, simply because it's a good payday for him. However, I don't know if he wins at this stage in his career. In his prime I think he would definitely defeat Mora, but now I'm not so sure. It wouldn't shock me if Bronco won, but I think he'd be the underdog coming in.
Well, that's kind of my point. If Mora won, Bronco could pick up a nice pay check, take a bow and say, "good night folks. It's been fun, but it's over." Mora would gain a modicum of credibility, especially since JT only lasted about 2 minutes longer than McKart against Pavlik. If Bronco won he still gets the nice payday, and Mora can get the **** off my TV, and off this board, off my planet, and in fact, I'd be happy if he announced that he was leaving the human race!! And why the hell is Mora all over the contender? Why isn't last years winner, the very likeable Grady Brewer, on this year? Boo
Ill gotta say Mora is not likeable but people cant let that cloud their judgement. He certainly aint terrible, and if he chooses to step up at some point he could beat a few decent fighters here and there. Im quite a fan of Bronco, I think he actually could take this but on the other hand I would hate to see him bow out to a guy like Mora.
After tonight this fight is totally unesassary. Exposing Mora didn't require the skills of a Bronco McKart, gatekeeper type fighter. Just some rageddy club fighter ranked #88 at 160!!!! YAHOOO. Good by Latin Fake! We hope to never see your ugly, asswipe looking, face again!!! Boo
What do people expect?? These contender guys are little more than regional level fighters. OF COURSE they're gonna get blown away when they face world class fighters at the top of their game. Guys like Mora are eminently beatable. And McKart, even though he's past his sell date, should still have enough to turn the trick.
McKart and Mora would be a good fight, I think McKart wins, Mora doesn't fight enough and he gets lazy for a majority of the rounds. Any busy fighter will give him fits and if he ever gets in the ring with someone with power, he would get KTFO
