It's because a 'slick' boxing style is considered boring by the lazy/casual observer - who'll make up the majority of the boxing audience. It's for that reason -- his style -- that he has to work harder to gain attention. It has nothing to do with skin colour. Golovkin is getting ridiculous hype not because he's European/white, but because he has a fan-friendly style and dynamite blocks in his hands. He has the greater potential for giving you thrills.

For a moment there I thought he was talking about Arthur Abraham's opponents.

The vast majority of fighters considered great by boxing fans are black Americans, so I don't know what the **** he's talking about, to be honest. Sounds like he's got a chip on his shoulder.

 

Numerous AA fighters have been massively hyped by networks and given every advantage in their careers. Lacy, Taylor, Ward, Jacobs to name but a few. I really don't think they can cry too hard about not getting enough attention.

 

The "slick" style is considered boring because although it's called "boxing" it's known as the "fight" game.

People want to see a fight, not one guy moving hell and earth to prevent a fight from breaking out.

It's why some guys who have massive fanbases sometimes make fights more difficult than they need to

at the end of the day, sport is entertainment, that's why it's fought in front of a paying audiece
