Broner and Gamboa aren't anything special

Broner and Gamboa aren't anything special but neither are a lot of them lower weight fighters now. Gamboa is easy to knock down and Broner will struggle when he fights someone who will swarm him and use force to dictate the pace. Its a shame because the best fighter both of them fought was Ponce De Leon, and they both looked bad in their effort. Both will lose sooner rather than later.

You may be right about both. Gamboa has alot of talent but he's a hit or miss fighter. Broner can be too tentative, though I thought he was really green against Ponce De Leon. He could have clearly beat De Leon but you could see the inexperience. I like his potential though.

If I was a mod on this site, the foot traffic on the general would decrease by half at least.

So, you don't rate or are unfamiliar with: Donaire, Wonjongkam, Moreno, Nishioka, Viloria, R. Gonzalez, Joyi, Ioka, Uchiyama, Mares, K. Kameda, H. Marquez, Mthalane, Rigondeaux, Narvaez, Poonsawat, or Nietes?

Those are some of the very best fighters in the sport. I pity you if you don't know them/watch them/think they are relevant. It's like people who don't think that a bullpen is a big deal in baseball or that the O-line isn't that big of a deal in American football.

What have these guys done to warrant them as world class? Donaire and Rigondeaux will go the Juanma Lopez route if Bob Arum makes the mistake and lets them. Mares won the showtime tournament which meant nothing. None of them were any good to begin with. I see nothing in these boxers. Its just a bad bunch of boxers of this new generation.

Hmm, not sure I agree fully. Both have special talents but could use work.

Broner in particular I'm kinda confused by. He likens himself to Floyd Mayweather but the thing that bothers me is that he only lands at like a 30% connect ration. Which if you're trying to be an elite level counter puncher probably isn't a good omen for the future. I think he can go a lot further then Gamboa though because unlike Gamboa he actually has very good defence.

Gamboas fought mostly no names but he's had an easier rise to stardom. Only three guys of note are worth mentioning on his resume. Salido was a rugged veteran who he couldn't knock out, Jorge Solis who was past his best, and Ponce De Leon who he looked terrible against. You will see he will get beat by Rios and knocked out. Watch the De Leon fight again if you doubt me.

PDL tho past his best days still proved to be a tough test for both fighters. Its true they haven't faced any elites aside from Gamboa facing Salido in his toughest test to date. Idk about special, I think that one gets thrown around to easily. Leonard, Oscar, Floyd just to name afew those guys fans knew were special when they were coming up and barely starting out in the pro ranks.

both future top 3 p4p fighers and it's gonna hurt you bad to see them achieve greatness. If you can't see what's special about Gamboa you haven't been watching boxing very long, a fighter with his natural talent speed and skillset comes along once a decade if we're lucky. and PDL is not the best fighter on Gamboas resume, that honor belongs to Salido who whupped Juanmas ass. And yes Gamboa did look pretty good vs a much improved PDL.
