I hope he is retiring. Didn't he say he was retiring a year or two ago and then came back a few weeks later? This would be great news if he retired. He is not a good fighter and he talks more than it is worth listening to him in a prefight news conference.
400k in PPV One of the 3 biggest draws on SHO. Yeah, boxing is not done with him yet. Broner is legitimately a bigger draw than Spence, Mikey Garcia, Santa Cruz, Danny Garcia. Just look at the numbers.
How so? Broner does bigger numbers on regular SHO than Spence, Mikey, Danny and Santa Cruz. How do those guys drawing less on regular SHO translate to more on PPV?
Because he is fighting "BIG DRAWS" (Pac, Mikey, Porter, Maidana). I doubt Broner/Vargas or Broner/Granados had better numbers than Brook/Spence, Santa Cruz/Mares, Thurman/Danny or Porter/Danny. Spence/Mikey will do great numbers too. Broner isn't a big draw. He fought the big guys so he made himself a big draw because he's in the ring with those guys. Can't see him making good numbers while fighting some random mugs like Spence for example. Spence/Ocampo did well i think but i am not 100% sure.
Broner-Vargas -- Peak 891k Broner-Garcia -- Peak 937k Broner-Granados -- Peak 859k Broner-Allakhverdiev -- Peak 609k Broner-Taylor -- Peak 1mil* Spence-Ocampo -- Peak 726k Spence-Peterson -- Peak 700k Mikey Garcia-Easter -- Peak 725k Mikey Garcia-Lipinitets -- Peak 689k Santa Cruz-Mares II -- Peak 633k Santa Cruz-Frampton II -- Peak 642k Danny Garcia-Porter -- Peak 690k Danny Garcia-Rios -- Peak 558k Danny Garcia-Salka -- Peak 850k* Danny Garcia-Herrera -- Peak 1.1m* *Are fights that took place a while back, when SHO ratings were a lot stronger in general. Broner is the second biggest thing on SHO Boxing, behind Wilder who tends to draw 1mil. Now stop arguing with me.
And Maidana was not a big draw. His solo PPV vs Morales(horrible card) completely flopped. And his showdown with Broner was the first headliner for Maidana since Devon Alexander.
Three fights i mentioned are not even on the list.......so why stop arguing? Obviously i would prefer watching a competitive fight like Broner/Vargas or Broner/Granados than a **** one-sided fight like Mikey/Lipinets or Danny/Rios. And obviously, a free available fight is doing better numbers than a PPV if the PPV isn't worth the prize. I would not pay for Spence beating a crap opponent to **** for xx.xx USD/EU. I am not saying Broner is doing BAD numbers. But he alone isn't a big draw. But for sure he won a lot of fans in the Maidana fight where he was beaten badly and still survived & come back and showed heart.
Broner won't quit boxing until boxing is finished with him. It won't be long: a Spence or Crawford stoppage beating will do nicely.
Thurman-Garcia was on CBS. So thats like comparing apples to oranges. I quoted the ratings for fights that happened on regular SHO. Broner-Granados and Vargas outdid Brook-Spence(300k), Santa Cruz-Mares II and Danny-Porter. You just said you didn't think that Broner-Vargas/Granados would be bigger than say Santa Cruz-Mares or Garcia-Porter, yet they were. Broner's ratings have gone down since the Maidana fight. Maidana and Malignaggi fights on SHO did 1mil. His previous HBO fights did similar numbers. He has since only broken 1mil once. But just look at the numbers i posted, Broner is clearly the bigger draw. Yet alone, he still gets bigger numbers than both Garcias, Spence, Santa Cruz or the new kid Davis.
