Maidana's power is over rated. He couldn't drop glass jawed Khan, shot Morales and never hurt Alexander even though Porter did. He wouldn't KO any top 10 level Welter's. Is Broner's chin that was the problem. (or lack of)
:yep People are way over ratting Broner's skill. He was a freaking beast at 135 because punches didn't hurt him and his punches hurt the other guy. That's not what I would call skill. If Paulie had any power at all in his punches he would have dropped, if not stopped Broner. People are putting him were he belongs. A good boxer but not a great boxer. Also Maidana is not some elite boxer either. He is a slugger that you better bring an A game too or he will floor you. He's crude but his power always has him in the fight.
Maidana has improved a lot, I was surprised at how good his jab was, it was a powerful punch, when used, it set up a lot of his power punches. Maidana is so much better than he used to be, he can box, his defense was good, he moved his head, etc. Garcia has done an excellent job training Maidana.
Nah he's not improved. He's just in with worse fighters now than the likes of Kotelnynik, Khan and Alexander.
Like I said this kid likes trade shots and come forward. He's in attack mode 95 percent of the time and 5 percent defense mode. He doesn't mind getting hit and he does get hit.Floyd backs off and just pot shot if the other kid in the other corner is strong and kicks like a mule.
good thread. completely understand where you're coming from. he was a bit rushed, but props to him for even taking the fight to begin with and of course for surviving.
and how many fighters can actually pull it off? not many. so what point are u trying to make? had they stood in front of Maidana fought him like Broner they wouldve been KO"d. especially Khan who got on his back after getting rocked.
The only guy who was on his back in a fight with Maidana between Khan and Broner was Broner. Not once. But twice
and who's been KO'd before between the two? play dumb all u want, u know Khan wouldn't survive going toe to toe.
when it was announced that broner was going to fight gavin rees i recognized the name sometime around 2006/7 i watched rees fight two times, and at that time i had decided that rees was literally the worst fighter i had ever personally watched win a world title when broner announced he was fighting rees i wasnt surprised, as i expected him to take the easiest fight possible in any scenario (as was the case with maidana, they felt it was an easy fight but apparently forgot broner stands still all fight long and cant move backwards without tripping over his own feet) and then i watched gavin ****ing rees win at least 3 rounds off of broner - it was at that point that i went from thinking broner was just unimpressive to thinking he was actively shitty, NO defense - No footwork - can ONLY punch while standing still or doing that awkward walk-foreward straight hand **** he does :verysad:verysad:verysad
pac moved up to his 8th, floyd on his 5th. *****s cry when people matches him up with the guys on his 6th to have a competitive fight. well if he doesnt want to fight an imminent threat in his division, where else will the challenge come from? he cant keep fighting people 2, 3 levels below his skill. pac needs to eat 5 times a day to campaign in his 7th div. why cant floyd gain a few pounds if he doesnt want the one in his div? he has the height and the reach to be competitive against the bigger guys. if pac can do it why not floyd? so the supposedly no.1 p4p can not do what someone below the p4p list can? how is he the p4p no. 1 then if he keeps fighting people that are not his own level?
