Broner is FAR more similar to Toney than Mayweather

He's not even close to Toney. He isnt close to any defensive fighters because his defence is distinctly average. He'd be better if he tried to be a boxer-puncher, but he's too busy being a clone to maximise his limited potential.

But yes, he does have non-existent footwork, no doubt.

 

"You don't know **** about boxing". I usually turn off when i hear that, as its become the sucker's last resort. When in doubt, just remember to say that "you don't know **** about boxing" and hope that youre not actually tested with content. I was referring to what Broner is actually good at. Yes, he TRIES to fight like Mayweather (and Toney in your opinion), but he sucks at it. He'd be far better off trying to fight like a boxer-puncher, because that is the only talent he has. He does NOT counter people. That is just purely untrue. He punches when the other guy is not punching, and then he takes punches when the other guy is punching. He doesn't successfully roll anything, and he doesnt counter back. He's a lot closer to an old Shane Mosley (since he no longer has legs), actually.

 

Not having any of that, Broners a bit of a swinger with his punches, and has nowhere near the cute little moves Toney had.

Broners also distinctly average, Toney was a technical God.

 

Broner is leagues below prime Toney, skillwise and trashtalk wise

 

In the sense that he uses the shoulder roll with more of a flat-footed base, yes, it would be more appropriate to call him a "very poor man's Toney" than a "very poor man's Mayweather".

Either way, he is bargain-bin when comparing to any great.

 

He is nothing like Toney. Toney was good.

 

More similar in that he stays inside with the defensive shoulder roll like Toney does instead of moving like Mayweather does - but he is vastly inferior to both of them on the inside and outside respectively and simply cannot do what they can do.

 

I kind of agree...... but he'd be about a 4th rate version of Toney. When Toney stood in front of guys, he didn't get hit, he did the hitting. Never mind the granite chin of Toney, which Broner clearly does not have, hahaha.

 

That's a HUGE insult to Toney. Broner isn't in the same class as either one. Stupid ass thread.
