Maybe it's the weight difference but his handspeed is considerably slower. I would say he has average handspeed in the welterweight division. Malignaggi, although lost in a close fight, was a tad bit quicker in that fight. Even in the Rees fight, Broner didn't seem all too fast. Is he possibly slowing down from the lifestyle that he lives?
I just think he's been overhyped, should've stayed lightwieght, not good enough to mix it up at welterweight, he was lucky to get Paulie win considering Malignaggi was both Hometown fighter and Belt Holder. I don't think he's good enough to be top top level fighter at WW
he might be a tad slower as he was a LW, but that was to be expected. The real problem (no pun intended) is that he was never as good as advertised and if boxing had be judged in a fair way would have had a couple of losses at his resume already. He just can't comfortably beat a good fighter he can't bully and I'm still surprised about the number of people that were so surprised about the Maidana fight outcome. I actually predicted that Marcos would stop the overhyped bloke.
