In an earlier interview with RingTV.com, WBA welterweight titleholder Paulie Malignaggi implied that he thought rising WBC lightweight beltholder Adrien "The Problem" Broner was balking at facing him in a proposed June 22 clash at Barclays Center on HBO in Malignaggi's native Brooklyn.

On Friday, Broner (26-0, 22 knockouts) contacted RingTV.com to deny Malignaggi's implication, doing so in an obscenity-laced manner.

"I ain't saying s__t. I ain't saying s__t. F__k Paulie. F__k everybody that thinks Paulie's got a chance," said Broner, a 23-year-old who will be after his seventh straight stoppage victory.

"F__k everybody. It's on the floor, like a floor tile. I'm f__king him up, and that's that. I'm putting it out there just like that."

A former IBF junior welterweight titleholder, Malignaggi (32-4, 7 KOs) has won five straight fights at 147 pounds.

"I haven't received a contract for the bout agreement yet, so I'm waiting on that," said Malignaggi, who is 32. "I hope to receive one soon so that we can start scheduling everything, but I'm hearing rumblings through the boxing world that Broner's not so keen on taking this fight."

Broner assured RingTV.com that he does intend to face Malignaggi.

"Paulie had better come into the ring with two A-K's, a nine, and a 40, because if he don't, I don't see him having a chance," said Broner.

"Everybody has a boxer's chance, but I'm A.B., man. I'm about business and I'm always ballin'. Can't be me, you feel me? And I ain't broke. With that being said, I'm getting to this money."

Although Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer has said Broner-Malignaggi will happen on HBO, a network spokesperson would not comment when asked about the potential conflict for the June 22 date between Broner-Malignaggi and the return of former WBC middleweight beltholder Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Chavez's promoter, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum, had indicated that the date belonged to Chavez Jr. for a bout to happen in Texas. Arum, however, amended his statement late Thursday evening, telling RingTV.com that Chavez would return "on June 22 or 29; wherever HBO wants to put us."

Asked if the fight was taking place on HBO, Broner said, "Of course," adding, "I'm Mr. HBO, man. You know what network I'm fighting on."

Broner ducking 140. I like that he talks smack to a guy at 147 who cant punch but ignores the 140 pound division that can and oh yea he dont talk smack when Guerrero gets in his face.

Simple question : Who at 140 should Broner have signed a fight with, instead of Paulie?

    Just curious

Broner going to fight Paulie, really? Take on Olusegun. I'd love to see Broner throw everything at him, only to see him walk through Broner's punches. Olusegun was one of two of the most avoided fighters at 140 before Matthysse (himself being no1 avoided) took the fight, now everyone seems to miraculously forget about him.

  8. Am I the only one on ESB who actually knows how to spell Malignaggi?

I actually want to see this fight.
Think its a very interesting test for Broner.

Hes going up 2 division to fight a legit ranked WW who has been in with some of the best of this era.

For all we know,he could go back to 140 or even 135 after this fight.

If he stays at 147 and gights Bradley or Marquez or Pacquiao etc, you can hardly say hes ducking Matthyse or anyone else at 140!

I'm also am not in favor of Broner leapfrogging 140 in favor of of getting an unearned title shot at 147, however it's a fair point that your making which is that the best fighters at LWW all seemed to be occupied.

Considering that the top guys aren't available, I personally would have liked to see him face a second level type of opponent such as Olusegun or Mayfield.

I think that Broner is a bad match up for Paulie. But I can't remember the last time I wanted to see a fighter get knocked out as bad as I want to see Broner get stretched.

Hard to believe Paulie is only 32. Seems like the guy has been around forever.

That said, this is a fight I never fathomed, but am now intrigued by.

Whoever stretches broner out first should get inducted into the BHOF that same night.
