Man I'm kinda pissed about this one. No way the $$ is enough to make up for the fact that Broner missed wt so badly. What a joke! I hope the agreement they reached also includes a glove size penalty. Cause if a KO puncher like broner is able to wear 8 oz gloves and go into the ring weighing the same as a WW/LMW then expect this fight to look like a repeat of Gatti vs Gamache. As for the Mayweather fight both are managed by Haymen so it would be easier for broner to look for a pac fight. Hoping for the upset tonight. Go Escobedo!

Broner has been fighting midgets.Eloy Perez and that punching bag they brought from Argentina.Escobedo got height on him and Broner comes in a few pound over.

The double purse for escobedo may be a myth dan rafael just put out a conservative figure of 'more than $50k' big difference to reported $250k extra?

double purse means he would be paid $300k instead of the $150k he is originally making. he was sure to get 30k from the overweight penalty.

HBO shouldn't give him interview time, win or lose.

I don't see it that way. Escobade is now making a pittiful 60K while Broner is now making 290k instead of 350k. Escobade has to fight a LMW/WW. Broner (a huge KO puncher) gets to fight against a guy he's going to dwarf in size.

So basically whats happened is Escobedo has gone from a dangerous fight for ****-all $$$. TO a rediculously dangerous fight for slightly more but still ****-all $$$. And broner has gone from being in a relatively easy title defense for bigtime $$$ to an even easier fight for relatively less but still bigtime $$$. As I said before unless a glove size penalty has been added (which I haven't heard anything about) Escobedo has little chance of seeing the second half of this fight. If an appropriate glovesize penalty has been added then ofcourse this makes a huge difference cause escobedo would have a good chance of getting Broner into the later rounds. Where if Broner is infact drained from trying to make wt or has conditioning issues, this fight could get very competitive. My guess though is that Escobedo would not have been given this consession because it would give him a real chance to win the fight. And no one from GBP or HBO or Al Haymen would want jeopordise a potential future star whose being groomed as the next Wayweather by opening him up to such a risk in a mean nothing fight.

LOL ya that was one of the funnies turn arounds I'd seen in a while. The cheating was probably why Funeka felt so good about going on with the fight despite the appartent wt difference.

$150K + 30K penalty + an as of yet undisclosed amount, thought to be around $50K. Per Dan Rafael, espn.

Your right there if Broner tried to drain the fight would be a lot better. At the time I made that post I read he was getting $400,000 for the fight, but those rummors appear to be false.

It will probably help Escobedo that he has fought at 135 lbs before, but he is at a disadvantage since he wasted his time draining weight to make 130 lbs.

I read that they were looking to make Escobedo vs Juan Carlos Salgado for the WBO title in September 15 if this fight didn't happen, I think that would have been a better fight for Escobedo.
