I have a question,I've a picture of a statue of a boxer in bronze mounted on a plinth. It looks like Joe Gans, there are several men grouped around it.Jack Dempsey flanks one side, Jack Johnson the other, Tommy Burns in in the group too.Is this statue in the auditorium of a famous arena?

The Gans statue is situated at Madison Square Garden.

Owing to Johnson being in the photo it would be before 1946, so would that be the Old Garden?

From what I can piece together the Gans statue arrived at the Old Garden in 1931 and has since been moved to the New Garden.

Thanks for the info. It's possible that it was the unveiling that is in the picture.

Yes ,a larger than life bronze statue of Joe Gans stood in the lobby of the old
Madison Square Garden at 8th Ave between 49-50 street in NY. Every fight fan passed that wonderful statue going to his seat at the mecca of boxing MSG. I saw that statue innumerable times and it was so life-like, it seemed the Old Master would fight in the
    main event...

Apparently fighters used to rub their glove against the lead glove of the Gans statue for luck, and as a result the colour of the glove has noticeably faded over time.
