Looks like Matchroom have found their market and recipe for PPV success. Brook v Spence viewed and billed as 50/50 fight even though Brook never an elite fighter - result 277,000 PPV Mugs Haye v Bellew viewed and billed as a fully fit (not a cripple) Haye easily knocking out bummer Bellew after 3 mins staged acting in Liverpool - result 750,000 PPV mugs The model is set, 2-5 mins of acting, state it is a 50/50 fight when clearly not and the mugs are reeled in.
Brook v Spence was a 50/50 However the SKY/MATCHROOM PPV has gone crazy.....If people want to spend their cash on it and be duped then more fool them...let them It is only a matter of time before Hearn v Kugan have a beef and do a YouTube PPV
Been telling people for years but just giving a few fresh examples - nearly all PPV fights are either stinkers or not PPV in the first place. For every Josh v Clit, you have 10-15 Parker v Fury, Brook v Gavin etc
I view Brook in a similar bracket to Ricky Burns, Lee Selby and Janice De Gale - won World Title belts but never anywhere near elite level. Even Charles Martin won a World Title FFS.
Well you obviously know the square route of ball all about boxing and are probably a scouse troll with nowt better to do... Brook has been horribly missmatched/managed for ages....but not even a hard case like you could win against GGG or Spence with a broken face Hating for hating sake really is scummy
hearn is a bona fide genius if he can sell out wembley in 5 mins with those 2 has beens. i would hope the touts get royally stiffed on that fight
I thought the Brook fight would be the fight that made it ppv worthy alongside the main event but i am afraid its very dissapointing to say the least. We were promised a step up from Rabchenko, and someone in between Rabchenko and Hurd calibre. Well is this guy even as good as Rabchenko ? Nothing on the tin to suggest he is.
Sick of Katie Taylor being rammed down our throats. I usually go pick up my chinese at that point in the card. Whyte vs Parker is a fine headliner, I just hoped we had a quality undercard which we do not. My ideal card would have been: Whyte vs Parker Brook vs Kirkland Campbell vs Mendy - WBC title Fielding vs Zeuge - WBA title Buatsi vs Yarde or Johnson vs Beterbiev Conor Benn vs that french dude rematch That card is PPV worthy IMO.
Brook has to take responsibility for his own career and has never progressed since he beat the Kitchen Porter. He was the one happy taking the PPV money v Frankie Gavin and fighting Jo Jo Dans. I have never thought he was an elite fighter and he has been smashed when he faced the 2 elite fighters he has fought to date. Eh Day will get him his final PPV v Amir Con and off he pops with his PPV loot and Ricky Burns legacy.
I agree unless a big fights added i can see this bombing at box office. Agree with Buatsi fight great to see. Think Benn will wim rematch easy. Right to do rematch but should be on a next gen show as its an area level standard fight. Agree Taylor if on ppv should be in a unification fight. Cant cost much surely to get a World Champ to fight her. To save bill he needs to get a Quigg v Galahad type match up on there, even then ppv numbers wont be gr8.
If the top end of bill was more ppv worthy then i dont think so many people would be as unhappy with tjis fight. People thought this would make bill ppv worthy as Parker v Whyte is a good match up but not a ppv as a standalone.
