Unfortunately, our sport takes such stories to heart and furthers the pattern of protecting fighters and hyping them.

Who care if he got kd. He fights for a living. Statistically it is almost impossible that he doesn't get kd throughout his career.

Its like saying Joe Hart let a goal in during practice :shock:

 

But who has Kell fought?

I disagree. To me it is perfectly accurate. It hits the target more often than not. Put it this way, if the fight is made I'll happily bet anyone on here that Khan outjabs him and beats him. Avatar bet or money....I'm very confident.

 

So rather than take this as a sign that Brook could be in danger against Hatton lol should we - accepting the story at face value - take away from it that Amar might be a threat to score the mild upset against Purdy tomorrow? :think

 

Kell is meant to be the next big thing and many it seems are giving hatton a chance. lol.

 

Given that it didn't happen, and that they haven't even sparred, I don't think we can take much from it...

 

I remember his jab against Paulie looked ridiculously effective but he hasn't particularly shown it since. Perhaps when he feels no jeopardy he can throw it as well as he did then.

 

The old line is true: sparring isn't fighting. All that matters is in the ring.

 

I think Paulie's style of standing off with hands down, with little head movement made it look better than it is.

 

It's horribly inaccurate. He spent most of the Malignaggi, Maidana, McCloskey and Judah fights missing with it. But when your opponent slows down, it naturally lands a bit more.

he's just a fairly mediocre fighter outside of his speed.

 

And the fact he was in with a fighter who had no chance of giving him anything to worry about, he was more composed than we usually see him. And still over reached, was wild and often threw shots with poor form.

Take him out of his comfort zone even slightly and he's all over the shop. Have never been impressed with his jab, and it's received some plaudits over the years :-(

 

Its seriously flawed and when he steps up it will get him seriously hurt.

 

Brooks Jab is lovely, compact and crisp and powerful.
