That's not true about Brook not being a big ticket seller. I was there in Sheffield that night and the stadium was half empty when Allen fought. Yes Allen has a lot of fans but the majority of fans turned up that night just before the Groves fight which was chief support.
So it isn’t THAT much of a struggle for Brook to make 147 like Hearn would have you believe. It’s a shame how its gone for Brook. I echo the opinions of many others in this thread. His career has been dreadfully mismanaged. Which is a shame because he had legit skills. You can forgive him for having a couple easy fights after the stabbing but after that it’s been a disaster. Did Hearn ever legitimately try to get him a unification fight? If I remember correctly they were in talks with Vargas at one point? He would have beaten him and he would have got a fight with Pacquiao probably. Could have been in big fights with Thurman and Garcia raised his profile in America and earnt a lot of money. And I do hold Hearn completely responsible for the decline in Brooks career. He needed someone to fill the PPV slot and he threw Brook to the wolves. If someone offered me a million quid to step in the ring with Joshua I’d do it no problem. Hearn knew Brook was going to have a hard time saying no to that fight and it should never have been offered to him. There’s daring to be great and there’s recklessness which is what that fight was. Completely unnecessary.
Heard it on a pod, nuthouse I think, which I think came from an IFL video (I don't watch them). Also think Dave Allen might have tweeted it
He’s like the jilted boyfriend who’s been fired off and can’t move on and meet new women despite his ex girlfriend meeting new men. He winds me up, have some bloody dignity Kell. He empowers Khan by waiting round for him, pining for a fight that will never happen. If he’s not interested in trying to win a title at 154, he should have a couple of domestic dust ups with Liam Smith instead to finish his career.
Khan will just think of another excuse if he agrees to fight at 147. Literally his whole career has been centered around fighting Khan.
Obviously I am no Brook fan but why cant he still compete @ 147? I would only favour Spence and maybe Crawford against him I think Porter beats Garcia, I think Brook beats both although they are very close fights Brook can be a champ at 147 if he stays away from Spence I kind of actually think Brook beats Crawford tbh, but don't think many would agree. Only because Crawford is too fresh to the division. @154 he gets decapitated by Hurd and Charlo and Munguia is a high chance over overwhelming him too as he is just so big and strong.
I think 147 is a genuine struggle for Kell. He became a six round fighter towards the end of his tenure there. His power and stamina diminishing. Not for the first time, he's sacrificing his career and legacy for a pay day. Each to their own I suppose. I think he could've had a great run at 154, unified even. Don't see him doing anything of note at 147, only make a few quid in one big fight. Shame because a fully fit Brook KO's Khan handily IMO. A weight drained Brook will likely lose on points.
