All them fights you have mentioned have been and gone, the level of Mayweathers competition and selection of opponents is a completely different discussion. The fact that the Khan fight would generate a lot of money is irrelevant to the fans and shouldn't mean we get this fight shoved down our throats. Devon and Guerrero have recently been beaten and not looked good doing it, Khan should beat one of them followed by an up and coming fighter like Brook or Thurman. Khan wants the easiest route to the shot, like most fighters, but his attitude really makes me hope he never gets it and I actually think his arrogance has got you and other fans conned into thinking he deserves it.

To be fair Sandman, you do make some excellent points regarding Floyd's most recent opponents (Canelo aside), which is why I do not consider Mayweather to be the p4p number 1.

Were Khan to fight Guerrero or Alexander (who is the guy who got beat off the guy who got beat off Brook) then I would not be totally against Khan-vs-Floyd..but please do not take as gospel anything that comes from Amir's mouth, he talks a load of bollocks to be honest mate.

Case in point: Guerrero and Devon were indeed being mentioned by Team Khan..but the person they actually tried to arrange a fight with was Josesito Lopez!! As a boxing fan, I am sure you are aware of the difference between the first two names mentioned and the last!! Welcome to the world of Team Khan..where everyone in the WW division is an opponent (providing they do not pack a ko punch and are several years past prime).

Khan is full of **** mate!! But, as a two weight world champion, he is entitled to the Brook fight. And like you, that is a fight I would happily pay to see. Because, whilst I believe that Brook beats Khan, were Amir to beat Brook then Amir is entitled to the Floyd fight.

In the crazy, machiavellian world of boxing promoter's, Diaz and Collazo are meaningful wins but to genuine boxing fans they are victories over men well past their prime and for an elite WW they do not amount to much. And they certainly should not entitle one to a mega-fight with Mayweather.

    :thumbsup

    Hear hear!!

I am sure boxing historians will look back unkindly on Floyd's (And Pacquiao, it must be said) reluctance to make that fight (and others) happen!! It is for the people Floyd has not fought that will prevent him from being considered anywhere near TBE.

The tragic thing is, the Americans have been well and truly suckered by Floyd (well they are considered the most gullible people on Earth) and thus his sham contests sell like the second coming of Hagler-v-Hearns!!

I mean, can you imagine if Leonard and Hearns had pulled this **** before their first fight??

Sorry Dragon mate...I honestly thought you were a Yank:lol:. I guess you spend a lot of time in the US?

Guerrero would indeed be a worthwhile opponent (i'm not going to bang on about him being a former featherweight who has only beat one decent fighter at WW etc, because The Ghost is a damn good boxer) but I have serious doubts as to whether Khan takes that fight (he should, it's a winnable fight for Amir) I guess we shall wait and see eh mate?

You also make excellent points regarding the promotional factors and Khan's payday against Collazo (which is why I always enjoy reading your posts) and whilst we could argue the numbers from now until May, I guess we are better off waiting until the fight is arranged.

The only problem I see is this:

If you are indeed correct, and Team Khan feel that they are entitled to more than 50% of the revenue (despite Amir being the challenger) and in turn insist on more than 50%, then I seriously doubt that the fight will be made!! I Simply cannot imagine Fast Eddie and the rest of Team Brook accepting such terms (especially when one considers the genuine animosity between Amir and Kell).

Let us, as boxing fans, hope that you are wrong my friend!!

I make you right boss and it would be a great fight. Yes it will be interesting to see how Hearn handles negotiations if gets there as I'm also sure Khan & GBP would wAnt a piece of the actual promotion but who knows. I think Hearn is an excellent business and marketing man and I think he knows who will be generating the money - to save face even though the general public wouldnt be bothered I wouldn't be surprised if the actual split is kept confidential as part of the contract.

Lets just see the fight happen if Khan can't get Mayweather - everything else is irrelevant really.
