From all the talk Ive seen o the web I believe this fight happens if Brook gets past his next fight. I like both Brooke and Spence but I think Spence takes it again.. But never count Brook out
Yeah, but he did extremely well before his eye was hurt. I think its fitting, Golovkin, Brook and Spence are all highly avoided. Brook had his eye destroyed by Golovkin, Spence re-ruptured it, no one can dispute what was in front of their eyes, is there anything wrong with him wanting to fight again now his eye is healthy? They were close fights, Id love to see Spence vs Brook 2.
I said I want this fight, I created the thread and I commended Brook for calling out Spence. Doesn't change the fact that a GGG fight was a very stupid fight for Brook to take and it changed the whole trajectory of his career.
He didn't 'run through' a weight drained Brook who suffered a freak injury, even when fighting at his (spencer's) ideal weight. Kell was winning the fight, fairly easily, until the freak occurrence. At 154 it'd be a cake walk. Deep down you know this.
Ok, Errol Spence didn't 'run through' Kell Brook but for you to say Brook was winning 'fairly easily' is just not true. Most score cards were 6-3 or 5-4 for Spence after 9. Hardly Brook winning 'fairly easily'. Spence would be the solid favorite at any weight for the rematch.
I really liked the first fight and wouldn't mind seeing a second. I'm just not sure that it's the right move for Brook...
No one else would fight him at welterweight, calculated risk. Is Haye stupid for fighting Bellew? Wilder for fighting Arreola? Taking any fight is a big risk and can have consequences. I think it was great fight where Brook took a huge risk to challenge and prove himself, and he did well. His career ain't over yet lad, while losing to Golovkin and Spence due to injury, his performances in those fights have made him a bigger draw than ever. He got injured and had 2 losses, big deal, happens to the best of them. He's made alot of money, gotten alot of exposure, and now stands to make even more.
Why would Spence ever go up to 154 or even a catchweight?? First of all people forget that in his first few fights, Errol weighed in the 144 range. He could probably make Junior Welterweight if he wanted to. There's no reason to even consider moving up in weight until he takes care of all of the competition at welterweight. Still could take on Thurman, Crawford (I know this would be tough because of promotional differences), and Garcia. Brook needs to get to the back of the line. Also if he were to move up in weight, people would be much more interested in seeing him take on a Charlo brother, Lara or even Canelo. Sorry Kell but Errol has nothing left to prove versus you. Make some noise at 154 for a year or 2 and then revisit this conversation.
Brook bounced on two decent fights against Deigo Chavez and Jesse Vargas. He may have took on GGG for the money instead , but he was not without good opponents at 147.
He turned down a unification with Jessie Vargas at Welter weight and then took the GGG fight, did you not remember that? How is a WW moving up to fight a unified Champ at MW a calculated risk lol?
