Just looking at the IBF rankings and out of the 4 organisations it easily has the weakest group of fighters at 147lb. Nobody is even ranked at 1 or 2. With Eddie Hearn constantly finding ways to shoehorn Brook into PPV cards, he must be giving him decent purses for defending against weak opposition. They don't even seem to be targeting the other top welterweights, with the exception of Khan, so I can see Brook holding this title hostage for a good while longer. I may be wrong but if Hearn supposedly has £5M waiting for Khan to sign on the dotted line then why doesn't he fork out the money to bring one of the top American welterweights over here? They will no doubt be paying Chaves buttons. Thoughts?
It's not kells fault who's ranked in top 15, if the names aren't great why doesn't someone like Thurman fight an eliminator to get him a mandatory status? everyones ducking everyone at WW in the hope of getting a may/pac fight knowing one loss puts them out, unfortunately kell is a small money high risk fight.
Well £5M is surely a decent purse for anybody at WW not named Mayweather or Pacquiao? Brook doesn't seem to even be chasing the fights with May or Pac, seems like he is content fighting bums his full career.
Khan-Brook is a huge domestic fight. It would sell out Wembley. So Hearn can guarantee Khan 5 million.
The £5mil for the fight with khan is based on the fact that 90% of people in UK know who khan is, and his viewing figures on ITV topped 10mil at times. PPV need casuals to buy, and they're not buying to see kell brook (who they barely know) vs some foreign guy they've never heard of. I can see him and Bradley having a unification fight, but that will happen in USA.
