Can't see Brook taking it, Hearn will advise him not to. Hearn could possibly make a couple of PPV's with Brook. Hearn will want to make Brook Vs Liam Smith (PPV) Hearn will want to make Khan Vs Somebody like Chris Van Heerden (maybe on the same bill) and then will still be sitting there with his fingers crossed hoping Brook and Khan both win.. Then Brook Vs Khan, 6-7 years too late but another PPV. It fills dates, fills PPV dates, makes Matchroom more money, would make Brook more money and then if Brook is still there, has won both, then cash out against a Crawford.
I suppose with enough promotion a Khan v Brook showdown might generate a PPV ? But other than that a 1.5 M cash out with Crawford in today’s world isn’t bad most British fighters are lucky to earn £10,000 a fight ! In my books 1 million £ or $ is a lot of money.
You’re deluded if you think Brook can’t get a higher payday than this. Do I think he deserves it? NO. But with Eddie / Matchroom / Sky he will easily get a lot more. Firstly I don’t think Brook can (or should) make the weight. Secondly I think he’s finished. Even if he moves up and fights Beefy I’ll be putting money on Beefy to not only beat him but stop him late on.
There are Matchroom PLC posters reporting people and it looks like every pound matters these days for the multi millionaires.
you don’t get what you deserve, you get what you negotiate. And if you can’t negotiate, you deserve what you get. BOOM.
Mate, a higher payday against who outside of Khan? Nobody is paying for Brook v Smith - that would be a disaster on PPV and it’s not going to be viable. If it was, Hearn would already have been talking about it from last year when he was struggling to get them both fights. By the sounds of things, Whyte v Povetkin struggled to hit 200k buys...The numbers for Brook would be abysmal. I will hold my hands up if I’m wrong, but I would be shocked if Hearn doesn’t personally offer to gift wrap Brook and hand him over to Arum for the Crawford fight.
Was it not 12 months or so Kell was on about targeting a strap at 154lbs. Heard nothing ever since was discussion of him potentially facing Hurd. Sums up his career, too much faffing around, took him nearly 2 years to fight again after Zerafa. I think he will take the Crawford fight, if he does well then he might continue for one more big fight. If he loses badly he will call it a day imo. I'm a fan of his as well from a boxing and skill perspective, he's one of Britain's best for a long time but he wasted his best years unfortunately for him and us.
We will never know how good Brook could have been, at his peak, but he destroyed his own career happily taking a huge sack of PPV loot for the GGG fight.
