Khan wasn't schooling Canelo, he was walking into the trap. Everyone has to give up the first three rounds or so to khan because of his speed and it takes time to adjust to that. But he never changes his rhythm and as his flurries become predictable, the speed becomes easier to handle. Canelo watched tapes of the Garcia fight before setting a game plan. And when they fought...

"So okay, here he comes... stepping in, flurry of punches, steps out again.... hmmmm that left hand is a little lazy going back, but man that was quick, keep a high guard, block most of the incoming.... yeah no power. Okay, same footwork, same flurry.... that lazy left hand again... oh look, when he steps out of range he doesn't tuck his chin. Ok close the range, keep the hands high... sussed the rhythm now it NEVER changes.... same lazy guard, chin still in the cross hairs. Getting closer this round, I know the pattern... feint a right hand to gauge the distance. What round is it? The 5th... no worries getting closer, eyes looking through the lazy guard but focused on that chin... stay relaxed... he's boxing by numbers now... wait... wait. NOW!"

That was no schooling. That was a man with a special needs boxing IQ sleep walking into a brutal knockout...

Golovkin barely boxed. He started round one off in seek-and-destroy mode (which is why you saw the vicious combo that Brook miraculously survived). I didn't see Golovkin utilizing range and attacking with patience. Brook had success in the middle of the ring because Golovkin was just holding his ground until he could return fire. He waited to get off instead of creating opportunities, which compromised his usually slick D.

Disagree. If Canelo was just timing him, he wouldn't have been lit up so frequently. But he was getting lit up and outboxed because he couldn't cope w/ the speed and was being schooled. Give Khan a chin and some natural size and he wins that fight 9-3/8-4.

But he doesn't have a chin and Canelo knew this. Canelo didn't have to close the range or stand his ground, he could have boxed off the back foot but chose to draw Khan in for the sucker punch. But I agree if Khan had a chin he would have lasted longer, maybe the distance and Canelo would have needed a different game plan. Then it's a different fight.

But giving Khan a chin and THEN rating him is like saying give Paulie Malignaggi power and he beats Manny...

Except no version of Paulie outboxes any version of Manny.

It's not unusual for Amir Khan to out box folk, his skill and speed are first class and if he had a chin I think he could of been very special but once again Oscar and Canelo know their stuff and whilst Canelo looked frustrated I think he knew that Khan would slow down at the weight and walk onto something which is exactly how it played out.
I reckon Canelo career is one of two parts, there was the Canelo pre Diva who fought Floyd,Lara and Trout even though Oscar didn't like and then we have the Diva Canelo who has been so carefully matched,he wouldn't of risked a fight with Brook as unlike Khan he has the skill and the chin.

I honestly think GGG will do the same to Canelo as he did Khan, can't see him respecting his power and he'll just walk him down onto the ropes.

Some just like to conviently leave that out,GGG knows his game inside out and has told us a few times when he wants to turn into a st fight whereas after the Jacobs fight he said I'm no killer I'm a boxer lol for Canelo benefit

He wasnt schooling Canelo, he was winning the rounds but Canelo was allowing it by starting slowely and really working Khan out. Within half a round of Canelo being ready to take control it was over.

If Khan was a natural 160 pounder and Brook was a natural 160 pounder they'd both give Canelo and GGG great fights

But Khan is a natural 140 pound fighter...Brook is a natural 147 pounder who is now on the very edge of not bieng able to make that weight.

Lol. I like how you make excuses for Golovkin getting hit but Canelo doesn't get that same luxury.
