Good to hear. In a year or so the landscape of that division will be completely different and wide open, will be a perfect opportunity to try and stamp yor authority on it.
I have seen the sparing between Brook and Amar a few times, A Force you must be watching something else, it looked to me like Brook was busting him up, Gavin will be a lot harder to hit then Amar and will make far less miistakes.
Brook gets good power from short shots and is excellent against southpaws, plus he has fast hands, Gavin would be different to any southpaw he has faced before, Gavin Has speed , Fast Hands and fast feet. Brook is easy to hit with very liittle head movement, Gavin has is harder to hit and has good head movement, Brook is good on the front foot, taking the centre of the ring whilst dominating with fast powerfull punches, Gavin is more adaptable and can fight of the front or back foot with equal ease. The danger to Frankie is the strength and power of Brook, most notably short shots that can get a fighter going and set them up for bigger shots. The danger for brook is if Gavin starts countering him and working the jab, Brook's head is up like a beacon at times so easy to hit, let him load up and then bring the left straight down the pan. This fight could well be a reality has Brook is talking about taking the WBO Intercontinental title ( that he was stripped of )back off Gavin if Gavin wins it against Mutley. I for one would love this fight to happen, but at the same time I can't understand why there is no title opportunities For Gavin at Light Welter where he is more suited, I mean is not The Commonwealth title vacant and what about the english title is that not an option.
I think Gavin would decision him. Boxing on the back foot, Frankie could counter him for fun and get him walking forward into punches. I think Brook would struggle against someone of Gavin's style, who could circle properly away from his power punches. If Frankie stayed calm under the gun and didn't allow himself to be walked down, then he'd **** this IMO. Brook is as stiff as a board with almost no chin to chest tuck, he crosses his feet and has very poor body rhythm. The early rounds would be tricky for Frankie, especially if they met right now, but after that Gavin would get into a groove and take a 8-4 type of decision in a 12 rounder. I'm not trashing Brook though, i think the kid can fight and has a decent dig on him but he makes a lot of technical mistakes. Someone who turns him, constantly has his foot outside, stays disciplined and has the character not to get overwhelmed with his athleticism is gonna cause Brook so many problems.
brook is hyped up, i dont know what i'm missing, there hasnt been a single fight i'v watched were i'v been mesmerised by his performance, he does a Ok job at beating up on feather fisted fighters, jennings was actually having success against him during there fight. I think any serious contender on the world scene would own him, he doesn't move his head enough and he's easy to read he does the basic textbook stuff, he doesnt have any inside game and his footwork is wack, he walks opponents down only because there unlikely to hurt him i'm honestly starting to wonder if he has some sort of glass jaw. i think kell brook is the andre berto of european level boxing,
:rofl Sorry to give this thread a bump BB, I'm sure your thoughts have changed dramatically on this fight
I think what you are really admitting is that you don't fancy it! Frankly I don't blame you as at this moment in time there is more probability that Brook wins. This may not be the case later so better to avoid him now. It's all about timing.
