Are you crazy? He has by far the most convincing resume of any heavyweight, second only to Ali.

    Holyfield..Tyson...Mercer..Bruno...McCall...Rahman...Tua...Ruddock...Morrison...Grant...Briggs...Golota

    He fought them ALL

You obviously never saw the Mercer, Bruno, Holyfield fights did you? Even Tua landed his left hook from time to time and Lewis took it.

The punches that McCall and Rahman landed would have knocked out any fighter in that era had they landed they way they did against Lewis.

Holyfield and Tyson have been knocked out the same/more times than him.

Yet you question his legacy - based purely on his chin?

Yeah and watch Tyson get beat in the Amateurs by Tillman and then KO him as a pro. The amateurs dont count for much especially since one hard punch could make a Ref call the fight to a halt.
Showing teen Lewis with headgear beat teen Bowe with headgear is meaningless.

Sir I beg to differ. Lewis fought old drug addict washed up Tyson. Before the Tyson fight Lewis trainer Emmanuel Steward even said "Tyson is a shell of his former self." Tyson had lost to an older Holyfield, also was not training properly and in and out of legal trouble while addicted to cocaine and alcohol. Tyson was also nearing 40 years old. Good win? I think not.

Lewis fought an old Holyfield who had struggled with guys like Vaughn Bean and John Ruiz. After seeing Holyfield struggle with those guys,Lewis decides to fight Holyfield. And the 2 Holyfield fights were not one sided dominations. They were hard fights and Holyfield wasnt hurt or dropped once. Lewis beat Holyfield the first time for sure but the second fight I though Holy won. Evander even rocked Lewis in round 7.

Mercer was 35 years old and had been convincingly beaten by old Larry Holmes yet Lewis struggled with Mercer. Mercer begged for a rematch and even offered to give the fight proceeds to charity but Lewis refused. Wonder why?

Bruno was mentally unstable and had already been KO'd by Tyson in better fashion.

Oliver McCall Ko'd Lewis in round 2 yet Lewis waits 2 years to rematch him. Why? It was widely known that McCall was arrested for crack cocaine possession and had trouble with alcohol. At the time of the rematch he was under house arrest and couldn't train properly for the fight. He was also undergoing drug rehab programs. All of a sudden Lewis wants a rematch.

Tommy Morrison was a serious drug user who had HIV. Good win Lennox.

Tony Tucker was out of boxing 3 years and was a recovering cocaine addict and had never fully recovered after the loss to Tyson. Another good win for Lennox.

Golota had mental problems and quit against Tyson and was Ko'd almost every time he was in a hard fight. Golota was never very good.

Lewis refused a 13 million dollar offer in 1996 to fight Tyson.

Grant was an HBO hype job and never elite. Not a great opponent.

Ruddock who lost 2 fights to post prime Tyson, was one of Lewis best wins coincidentally.

Tua was an actual good win. Tua was a hard puncher with an iron chin and had beaten many top fighters of the time. Ok good win.

Lewis did beat Vitali but only barely. Lewis promised Klitschko and HBO's Larry Merchant a rematch but then retired. Interesting. Vitali who took flush Lewis bombs and still hit back was too much for Lewis maybe. Another interesting part of the Lewis career. Lennox had 44 cherry picked fights. Compared to Foreman,Ali,Holmes and hose greats...Lewis ain't much.

So Lewis best win is David Tua. His second was a lucky break against Vitali (a fighter who I was never a big fan of anyway and a guy who never beat anyone good himself) and Lewis third best win was over Ruddock.

Not only based on his chin but the fact that he fought old washed up drug addicts. Tyson was only Ko'd once in his prime by Douglas and it was in round 10 after a combo not after one punch from Mccall in round 2. Mccall was Tyson sparring partner for some time too.

The thing was Lewis was KO'd twice in his prime!

"Holyfield has only been stopped with head shots once. And that was by the juggernaut that was Riddick Bowe - in their third encounter. In the first two fights, however, Evander withstood some huge punches upstairs. He did the same again in two bouts with the massive Lennox Lewis - and these two fights were contested at a time when “The Real Deal” was considered to be way past his best. The fact that he also took the best Mike Tyson, George Foreman and Ray mercer had to offer, lets you know just how good his chin was. And to think, he’s still fighting today!"-James Slater ESB writer.

No other ATG heavyweight would go down and out from one Rahman punch. Not Ali,not Holmes not Foreman. Holyfield fought Rahman also and he wasnt Ko'd with one shot!

The bad chin and the fact that he was a cherry picker who only fought washed up fighters, old guys or drug addicts means he is not a top 20 ATG.

Lewis was a good fighter with talent and he was a champ for sure. But he is not an ATG.

    1. Tyson and Lewis were the same age when they fought.

    2. You're bashing Lewis' competition yet fail to address Tyson or Holyfield's competition - which are both worse off.

    3. He beat the best the division had to offer. Which was very good - the 90's are second only to the 70's in terms of the heavyweight division being at its best.

    4. It wasn't a lucky break against Vitali. An old, on the slide Lewis, beat the most dangerous up and comer there was and beat him convincingly.
