Brooks biggest mistake last night was that he did not consistently

go to GG's body. GG kept coming out round after round with an abundance of energy because while he got hit with head shots, he wasn't hit to the body. IMO he moved a bit too much and he head hunted too much. At times he sat down right in front of GG, hit him and moved. And then he started to move a lil too much and was now at the end of GG's shots.

Brook was getting in and out good early, but he was only landing head shots. You need to wear the bigger guy down a bit. That is why Ali's victory using the RopAdope over Foreman lives in the minds of every boxing fan who sees that fight. Leonard went to Hagler's body. It is essential that you go to the bigger man's body, and Brook felt GG's power and made a decision not to commit to the body. I say that because while he landed on GG, his punches had no effect. GG has red marks on his face, but that's about it.

I'll say this about GG, he uses the jab/shot gun jab very well. He's a much better boxer than he's given credit for.

My thoughts exactly as I watched the fight. It's been established that GGG has a solid chin. Powerful guys like Curtis Stevens landed flush and barely wobbled GGG. Yet no one has tried to go to his body. There is even rumors that GGG has been dropped to the body in sparring (believable). Going to his body might very well be the recipe to dismantling the monster, yet no one has even attempted it. I guess that does speak to the level of competition he's faced so far.

Getting hit in the eye was a pretty big mistake too.

I agree though, neither guy seemed to go to the body enough.

GGG has a heck of a chin and, to compound that, knows how to take a punch.

I do suspect he'd be more vulnerable to the body, but that also involves an opponent leaving themselves a little more open for headshots coming back at them unless they can cut the distance (easier said than done). If GGG's power wasn't as thudding as it is and he didn't enjoy countering, I think we'd see more people taking that risk.

If I had to pick one, the only guy who'd really commit to it is Khurtsidze IMO.

His biggest mistake was getting in the ring with GGG and have his face shred to pieces. Now he has to go to surgery....

i'd love to see Avtandil vs GGG, but I think it will never happen. I rate the georgian, he should get in mandatory position asap

I think his problem was brawling a little too much

Then again I don't think he could out box GGG for 12

in fact to mw should be a competitive division when GG releases the belts he holds hostage

nice matchups with hard bangers and some skilled skilled young fighters down south at 154 just waiting to go up

Come on GGG , Danny Jacobs and BJS stop efffing around and lets do a mini tournament
GG vs BJS ...the winner vs Jacobs for all the trinkets , or the other way around I dont care

and then go up GGG and fight Degale and Zurdo

I dont think ODLH wants to put Canelo vs GGG....it s his only cash cow , he cant risk its too soon , the kid has a long career still in front of him

Hard to go to the body when a man is walking you down whilst dipping and slipping whilst forcing you backwards...

Wouldn't of made a difference he suffered the eye injury pretty early and it would have never gotten to the point where shots to the body would have come into play later in the fight.

Brook fought well, showed Golovkin little respect and punished him for his lack of head movement. If he made any serious errors it was sometimes staying on the ropes too long, Golovkin is brutally effective when he has his opponent pinned on to the ropes. We saw that as early as the first round where Brook found himself with his back to the ropes and GGG clearly hurt him.

If you are able to hit a guy in the head and land uppercuts, you can dig to the body. Leonard knew Hagler had a hard head, but making a guy move and landing to his body is part of the frustration process that the little guy has to apply. Brook went about it all wrong and GG put his foot on the gas. That is what I liked about what GG did. He's little, treat him like he's little.

That's after the fact. It should've been a part of his strategy.

His biggest mistake was thinking he could absorb punches from GGG. If Special K had just a little more power and avoided the eye issue this could have been a real barn burner.

Special K had no backup plan and once GGG began walking him down and walking through his punches it was just a matter of time. If the punches upstairs were not effective I highly doubt downstairs could of changed the outcome.

GGG knew he could take the shots but I will say Brook landed some beautiful uppercuts and a few flush shots
