At the end of the 4th round, it was clear that the cutman was trying to get the enswell to Brook's eye, but was unable to get aid to Brook's eye due to Ingle's "talking" into Brook's ear??

If Ingle was so concerned about Brook's health, then don't you think he should have allowed the cutman to provide the cooling of an enswell to Brook's eye?

Simply "talking" to brook with a wet warm rag over his head is not going to get the swelling down on the eye.

From the moment Brook was complaining about the eye, Brook's corner should have used the entire 60 seconds between rounds to apply cooling to the eye socket. Either an enswell or at the very least an ICEPACK for goodness sake !!

But instead Ingle got in the way of the cutman's attempt to cool Brook's eye and use the time between rounds to get in Brooks face and talk to him??

This reminded me of the sort of antics in Tyson - Douglas when Tyson had the swelling but the corner didn't know what the heck they were doing and didn't have an enswell or a real icepack. (just a bag of lukewarm water that did nothing to aid the swelling)

It seems to me that while Brook sustained significant eye socket damage in the 1st round, the situation could have been managed by applying an ice pack or the enswell to the area above the eye.

The telecast didn't really show Brook's corner until after the 4th round, so we didn't really get to see whether the enswell was used before the 4th round, but I just found it very poor corner work that after the 4th round no ice pack or enswell was used to aid Brook's eye after the 4th round.

The issue here was that Brook was made uncomfortable by the lack of cooling to the eye socket. 10 seconds of cooling of an enswell or an ice pack directly to the eye socket could have relieved Brook's discomfort greatly.

Was Brook's corner not prepared for how to deal with a swollen eye??

I think his corner had the towel over his head so we couldn't hear their conversation, this is probably where kell is telling his corner he thinks his eye socket is busted and that they should stop the fight.

It was clear that Kell was having difficulty with the eye as early as the very 1st round. In the 2nd round it became obvious that it was becoming more and more of a problem for him and by the 3rd round he was pawing at it. Surely the corner was aware of the eye being an issue BEFORE the 4th round.

Since the telecast didn't show Brook's corner really before the end of the 4th I couldn't tell when they were made aware of the eye, but surely by the 3rd round they could tell it was an issue as Brook was pawing at it.

Regardless of what was said by Ingle to Brook after the 4th, the fact is that the cutman was TRYING to apply the enswell to Brook's eye, you could see his arm from the left side of Brook, but then Ingle got in the way got right into his face.

My question is why wasn't the cutman using the ENTIRE 60 seconds to apply cooling to Brook's eye instead of have Ingle talking to Brook instead!

It always annoys me when a cornerman spends the whole 60 seconds getting into a fighter's face and talking to a fighter instead of allowing the cutman to apply aid to a fighter that needed it. Had the cutman been able to apply cooling to Brook's eye, Brook may not have been in as much discomfort and he wouldn't have sustained all the additional damage he sustained (in the 5th round especially) by being distracted by the eye pain due to the swelling not being cooled !!

Because his corner was getting serious about stopping the fight they were warning him they were going to stop it at the first sign of trouble in the 5th.

I understand that, but don't think it was more important to aid Kell's eye with an enswell or an ice pack rather than yell in his ear?? Not only did his corner NOT aid his injury, but Ingle also increased Kell's stress by (presumably) telling him he was about to stop the fight.

How about letting the cutman do his job and reduce the swelling? Sending Kell out there in the 5th without any icepack or enswell to the eye was worse than anything !! If you're going to stop it, then stop the fight with him on the stool. If you are going to send him out there, then AT LEAST allow the cutman to provide aid to the eye socket before the round ! It reminded me of Tyson - Douglas when Tyson's eye was on fire and the corner didn't know what the heck they were doing !

Especially when you are fighting a killer like GG, your corner had better be prepared for a swollen eye for goodness SAKE ! It seems that Brook's corner didn't provide any ice pack or enswell to the eye to relieve his pain and discomfort and instead sent him out there without any treatment causing him to be unable to protect himself !
