I think Saunders will eventually get that career defining fight but all these years of messing about will come back to bite him and he will not be the fighter or have the performance he could of been capable of if he didn’t waste so many years fighting sub par opponents and inactivity

 

You’re forgetting that Billy Joe already accepted his fate and moved up.

 

He's 31 and he had 4 fights with Dominic. Isn't he a Tibbs fighter?

 

Saunders is very unlikely to get in with a Crawford level opponent- he just isn’t built that way.

He already thinks he is some elite Champion, holding his worthless WBO belt that Warren found somewhere.

He might eventually go in with somebody like a 40+ year old, bashed in Golovkin.

 

BJS made it clear in old interviews, he just wants the path of least resistance - an easy life. He'll be very clever with his earnings. Not one to fritter it away.

Good comparison in the sense that he won't perform anywhere near his potential when he finally tests himself. But with BJS it's more by design. He knows exactly what he's doing.. Kell didn't have a clue.

Though I wouldn't be surprised if Saunders never fights again. He'll keep up ifl appearances on the sniff, though

 

One thing you have to remember, which you mentioned in the OP tbf, though is that Saunders has never been battered like Brook has. Brook received a brutal. brutal pummelling from Golovkin which left him with a broken eye socket and then broke the other one against Spence.

Saunders has ****ed around a fair bit but he has more miles on the clock. He's never been in a sustained beating and that's what's important when it comes to longevity.

So I wouldn't put him in the same category as Brook just yet.

Also Saunders jumping from 160 to 168 is not as drastic as Brook draining down to 147 because I don't think he kills himself to make MW. When Bill jumps to 168 he looks fairly soft still so I don't think it's an almighty struggle for him to make 160 even after all these years.

 

Spent a few years wasting my time posting about this lads boxing ability. The Lemieux fight validated that, but then he wastes another 3 years of his prime. He’s the type that will pipe up and say he never failed, but ultimately he’s never failed cos he never truly tested himself.

In his community he will be hugely respected as a two weight world champion and that’s all that matters to his ego.

Judging by his performances at Super Middleweight he will lose to anyone world level, would've liked to see him fight against Ryder who I reckon would win on points fairly comfortably

 

He was one of the most overrated fighters, all his biggest wins have been close fights apart from Lemieux who's style was tailor made for BJS but even then he wasn't even a top 10 middleweight
