I like Brother Naz but he is way off on this one. Weight draind fighters do not need to take prolonged beatings, ask Gerald McClellan. And Bernard is not a G, This guy will hit you in the back of the head and when you return the favor he lays on the floor fo 10 minutes. or when he was faking Calzahge hit him low. That was pathetic.
I've got the fight saved on my Sky+ box, I went back and watched it. There is no prolonged beating, he is just getting outclassed by a better fighter, there are no punches where the crowd is going "OOOOOOO!!!" like they do when a fighter is taking big shots. I fully believe that John Scully has Chad's best interests at heart and there's no way he was gonna stop that fight. I'm one of the first to say get him out of the fight he's taking a beating but at no point in that fight did it even cross my mind. I remember when he told Smoger he was done my jar just dropped, I couldn't believe it. As for the weight draining thing, I don't know how much of an effect it had and if people truly believe that was the reason he performed the way he did and quit then fair enough.
So either the emergency room doctor lied on the discharge letter or someone else photoshopped the letter? :think
I saw the replay and it was clear as day that Calzaghe slapped him right in the dick. Yeah, Hopkins didn't want any part of Robert Allen as evidenced by the fact that he rematched him less than six months later and beat the brakes off Allen's ass, TKOing him in seven. :yep
Its' not that Ward was three notches above Dawson. There was a lot of factors against Dawson going into the fight. Dawson's skills were the on the decline (mainly because he switches trainers too much) and he was weight drained. His reflexes were not there, and he wasn't fast or as mobile as he normally is, that's a sign of being weight drained. Also he did not convincingly beat Hopkins, it was a pitiful performance. He was doing a lot of things wrong against Hopkins; for one he wasn't using his height and reach to create distance. Two Dawson was fighting flat-footed which allowed Hopkins time him and slow down the pace. No one was impressed by his performance against Hopkins, he fought very poorly and many of the boxing analyst realized that, which is why Ward was a 4-1 favorite. Scully did not fix any of Dawson's mistakes going into the Ward fight. Actually Scully is one of the reasons why Dawson is looking like crap. He is making Dawson fight all wrong. The issue for Dawson, is how well he performs in his next fight. Hopefully he isn't shot.
