The other thing the novice boxer stated was my reluctance to show head movement ducking and weaving etc .The simple answer is that it's frowned upon in the amatuers they want you to keep your hands and head up I dont make the rules look this post was in the beginning of 2012 I trained the NSW Novice Heavyweight Champion Amatuer that year so I must be doing something right so dont worry about rumours and haters just facts and results. I like the sugar ray Leonards and hector Camachos but not all boxers have the speed for parrIng and movement I'm just giving a plan B that's all so a boxer still has a chance to be successful.Anyway I hope I answered some questions thanks happy new year

Interesting , , This guys a novice , he's not had a fight yet , and he's questioning his coach publicly on a ****ing boxing forum , .

Whist i don't agree with the statement that ameteurs frown upon head movement ect , just like the common misconception ,they don't agree, with body punching , Judges ameteur, or pro, love to watch good boxing, which entails all forms of styles , , head movement , body punching ect ect .

But with saying that , this guy is a novice , and he's asking why am i not neing taught advanced techniques , could it be he has'nt mastered BASICS yet , no point teaching a novice to move in slipping punches , if he can't even balance his feet and body well enough to move in correctly ,

Slipping ducking a punch . is easy and to be perfectly honest , any guy over the years i found who has to be taught to move his head , generally does'nt belong in a boxing ring ,

What do you want if you tell someone to stand still , and your gonna throw a cricket ball at there head , what do you want a fella who's gonna stand there, going der der , and watch it coming has it hits him between the eyes , with an excuse , i've not been taight to move my head , or a fella who's natural reaction is to move out of the way ,
With saying that has much has it should be natural , it doe s take coaching learning how to drop the knees ect , but if you cannot move your feet correctly it not something you should be trying

Master the basics mate , and the rest will flow ,
My advice to you fella is go find another gym , . my advice to the trainer is find out who it is and tell him to go find another gym ,

I didn't consider it poor form at all by the OP

He didn't disrespect the trainer just asked others opinions about whether the technique seemed right

I understand why the novice didn't respect me because my own brother didn't respect me .My brother went to another trainer David BIrchall who is catch and counter parry everything that use love which is fine .But I will tell you something when my brother beat Colin Wilson for the Australian Heavyweight Title and David BIrchall was his trainer .He didn't do David BIrchalls techniques he done mine and I didn't get any glory whatsoever .The fist boxing magazine didn't give me a mention David BIrchall got my legacy as a trainer . So if I were you novice boy go to David BIrchall he will show you want to see.

I think is absolutly ****ing discusting how u can claim that david burchill had nothing to do with miks win.If you want to claim the aus title(cos its obvious you have no acclaim of your own),You have to own his 1st round Ko loss to Kali meehan,in which u were in the corner of and im assuming you trained leading up to the fight.I agree with all novices questioning trainers credentials, especially when his gut feeling told him something was wrong.Mik hasn't fought for 3yrs now,If your such a great trainer, wheres the proof.

The first round loss to Kali Meehan and the Soloman Haumono loss was your fault I told you to protect yourself in the dressing room and out there but no you want to be the hero and show people how tuff you are .Colin Wilson was a bit past it he wasn't like Nathan Briggs was when you use to listen to me. Now if I am so bad why do you want me to do the Melbourne show and not David Birchall

You weren't even training in the same gym as me when I won that belt, you diluded mess.Selfish is all u are,You drag out a 2yr old post, have put up 4 posts and there all about u!You don't care about boxing, just gratifying yourself. You have to take the good with the bad and every time I lost it was my fault , but when I won it was'we won'.Did 'we'detach our retinas or was that just me?
